POSITION

Overview of Position:

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

The incumbent will take the lead role in managing publisher/vendor license negotiations, assessment, and support of ongoing access to electronic information resources. S/he will work closely with the Head of Acquisitions, the AUL & Director for Collections, the Electronic Resources Unit, and subject librarians to shape and improve access to electronic resources for Library users. The ERL will report to the Head of the Acquisitions Department.


  • Review and negotiate license agreements with publishers/vendors to reach favorable pricing and licensing terms and arrange trials of e-resources
  • Assist the AUL & Director of Collections with acquisition of content licensed through the California Digital Library (CDL)
  • Review CDL offers and local proposals, and coordinate them with subject librarians and acquisitions staff
  • Establish and manage excellent publisher/vendor relationships
  • Coordinate trial, acquisition and renewal activities with publishers/vendors and staff
  • Work with vendors and users to remedy violations or breaches of contract

Job Summary
Persons in these positions normally work 1.75 to 3.5 hours per day, school session. THE POSITION:
There is a part-time (hourly) Library Technician position available in Literacy Services at the Library Learning Center. This position performs learner assessments, tutor training and reporting for the adult and teen literacy program in addition to proving traditional library services.
The Learning Center is open Monday - Thursday, 9 am to 8 pm and Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. The scheduled work days and hours for the part-time (hourly) Library Technician – Literacy Services position will vary, up to no more than 18 hours per week. Hourly positions are not benefited and cannot exceed 980 total hours worked within one fiscal year.
The ideal candidate has proven customer service and communication skills; is caring and easily approachable; is passionate about literacy; is able to perceive needs and find solutions.
