Position Summary:
The Web Services Librarian designs, maintains, manages and assesses the Library’s online presence including the Library home page, LibGuides, and access to electronic resources. This librarian also creatively leads and supports Voskuyl Library in ongoing implementation of our new platform, OCLC’s WorldShare Management System, and develops and shares apps, tools, protocols and data with more libraries, developers and partners through the new platform. In addition to ongoing web design and online maintenance duties and support, this librarian also serves as a member of the Library’s active and engaged liaison team providing instruction, research consultation, outreach and collection development services for assigned academic departments and works at the Learning Commons research help desk as scheduled.

The University of California, Berkeley, is seeking a Processing Archivist whose primary responsibility will be to pack, process, arrange, and describe the archive of the Goldman Fund, a San Francisco-based philanthropic foundation whose giving focused predominantly on environmental issues. This is a full-time (1 FTE), temporary appointment for eighteen months. The successful candidate will have experience with processing institutional collections, demonstrated understanding of archival description and materials, familiarity with archival standards (EAD, METS, MARC, MODS), and strong communication skills.

The Library Director is responsible for the administration and operation of the Stanislaus County Law Library. The Law Library is also a member of the state consortium, the Council of California County Law Librarians. The Director is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of the Board, and is compensated from the Library Trust Fund, held by the county treasury. Staffing consists of one full-time employee and three part-time extra help employees. The current operating budget is approximately $450,000. The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable in California and National legal research in both print and computer-based legal information.

The following duties are typical of those performed by the incumbents in these classifications; however, other duties may also be required.

Circulation/Public Service:

  • Provides reference and readers advisory service to customers under the direction of the Librarian; helps customers make effective use of the library; provides high level customer service to a diverse community in-person, over the phone, and through email and internet;
  • Develops and maintains desk schedules; ensures adequate coverage;

Technical Services:

  • Responsible for the acquisitions function including ordering, setting up, scheduling and merging carts, receiving materials, processing electronic invoices, and manual creation of invoices;
  • Liaison to vendors to ensure accurate order records and invoices including electronic media;
  • Liaison to library staff concerning questions on orders;
  • Oversees the processing function including label production and ordering of supplies;
  • Familiar with materials processing standards;
  • Trains and oversees processing staff;
  • Creates a positive, supportive work environment;
  • Works with Cataloging Librarian to train support staff and coordinate their work;
  • Performs basic trouble shooting for library computers;
  • Participates in updating and maintaining the library database;
  • Responsible for the maintenance of computers and office equipment;
  • Runs automation reports and notices;
  • Assists Business Manager with tracking and reqporting acquisitions;
  • Creates statistical reports for internal and external customers as assigned;
