Summary
Under the supervision of the IT Director and part of the IT Unit, called the Peninsula
Library Automated Network (PLAN), the Integrated Library System (ILS) Database
Administrator provides ILS support for 33 sites; has the primary responsibility for the
performance, integrity; and security of the ILS and integrated systems including
database maintenance, system revisions, and updates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
– Secures and maintains the ILS: troubleshoots issues; maintains configuration
files and tables, network access tables, vendor API configuration and authorization, user accounts and authorizations
– Uses scripting to pull and collate data, automate manual tasks, automate reports
– Performs upgrades and enhancements to the library’s ILS and modules
– Provides connectivity support for all third-party applications which connect to the
ILS such as but not limited to discovery layer, EZ Proxy, Self-Check, AMH, text
renewal system, and mobile apps
– Coordinates with Network and Systems Engineers in the maintenance of ILS,Tomcat and development servers
– Runs monthly reports for all databases and e-materials
– Responds and resolves issues submitted via the help desk

San Francisco - San Francisco Conservatory of Music - Library Evening and Weekend Supervisor

Summary
The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is looking for a part-time Library Evening and Weekend Supervisor to oversee evening and weekend circulation services and supervise our student employees.

Job Duties
The incumbent will process incoming reserve requests, update hard copy reserve lists, and communicate with faculty regarding reserve requests. The incumbent will also provide technical assistance (copy machines, computers), assist with the processing and/or repair of materials, and be responsible for stack maintenance and shelving. At the end of the shift, the Weekend and Evening Supervisor will be responsible for closing and securing the library.

Qualifications 
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, preferably in music or a related field, two years of library experience, and experience with both public and technical service, including circulation procedures. Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience with MS Word and Excel are a must. Experience with the LC classification system and with OCLC Discovery catalog are desirable.

This is a part-time position with approximately 14 to 15 hours of work per week (varies) during the academic year (late August through the middle of May). Flexibility is highly desirable. In particular, we presently have a critical need for coverage on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturdays.

Summary

1. Library Management: at the direction of the Board of Trustees, manages the library’s operation and leads the library’s vision. Director also serves as the secretary to the Board of Trustees and provides staff support to the Board; seeks to continuously improve and promote library products and services to meet the needs of the community;
2. Financial Management: prepares and controls annual budget of $1.5 million and manages all financial resources; provides monthly financial reports to the Board; monitors and develops all sources of income, including court filing fee deposits;
3. Personnel Management: supervises staff of 10-12, including hiring, training, scheduling, and discipline. Recommends salary and benefits packages. Maintains positive working relationships with Board of Trustees, staff, patrons, professional organizations and county or other government officials who provide services to the library.

5. Law Librarian: supervises all reference services to law library patrons and ensures patrons are appropriately assisted in use of law library resources; participates in law library professional organizations in the furtherance of professional development and law library interests. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

About the Position

Under the general direction of an assigned Access Services Section Coordinator, oversees functional operations at various public desks in the Pollak Library and operations critical to the smooth delivery of library user services in the Access Services Unit and the Irvine Campus Library. Provides general information and assistance and assures appropriate referral of patrons to alternate sources/locations as appropriate. Directs the work of between two to ten student assistants to ensure an efficient workflow and resolves difficult desk situations. Handles occasional financial transactions which may include cash, paying fines or bills, receiving checks, making change, copier refunds and balancing the change fund within cash box. Coordinates financial payments pertaining to circulation fines or bills to Titan Card services. Works with patrons using computers in the area to resolve basic information access issues, print problems, computer navigation issues, referring to Information Technology staff as necessary. Depending on the hours or location, responsible for opening and/or closing the library. Handles short term or longer term projects and responsibilities related to Access Service including student employee oversight/work coordination and record keeping. Communicates with faculty and library staff regarding general reserve information such as statistics, policies, procedures or new service. Ensures compliance with federal copyright laws as directed for the operation by the copyright librarian. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
High School diploma or the equivalent and a minimum of two years of related library or clerical experience. Full proficiency in all technical aspects of work assignments including a thorough knowledge of functional area policies and procedures and applicable work methods. General knowledge of library collection organization and classification scheme, as well as the ability to interpret bibliographic records. Ability to interpret library unit’s policies and procedures and apply them accurately in performing work functions. Ability to evaluate procedures and recommend changes. Working knowledge of campus and library policies and practices associated with the ethical use of and access to library and on-line resources. Basic knowledge of national standards and guidelines pertaining to libraries, including working knowledge of campus standards pertaining to copyright and intellectual property protection with the ability to source and apply such policies and standards to avoid potential violations. Full proficiency in the use of automated library systems and subsystems pertaining to the functional work area. Ability to fully utilize standard and non-standard features of various on-line resources and standard desktop software packages, such as word processing and spreadsheets, to perform technical work and assist patrons. Demonstrated problem solving and research skills to address standard and non-standard work problems. General knowledge of library accounting and budget procedures, including the ability to perform arithmetic operations to track and monitor vendor accounts and budgets. Demonstrated ability to compile and present information in an organized manner. Possession of effective communication and interpretive skills to assist in resolving patron problems and complaints, assess patron information needs, and orient and guide patrons in use of library resources. Ability to effectively provide lead work direction and training to student workers, as well as an understanding of employment and payroll procedures related to student workers.
