Under the direction of the Executive Vice President, Student Services and Instruction, provide leadership, plan, organize, administer, develop evaluate and direct the activities and operations of the Office of Instruction, Distance Education, and Library Services.  Coordinate assigned activities with other divisions and outside agencies; provide highly responsible and complex professional support to Executive Vice President, Student Services and Instruction.

Representative Duties:
  • Provide leadership, plan, coordinate, direct, supervise and support the functions of instruction, distance education and library services. E
  • Lead and facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of distance education courses and programs. E
  • Develop, recommend, implement, maintain and promote policies, procedures for assigned areas. E
  • Collaborate with student services, deans, campus bookstore, learning assistance center(s) and public information office to support student success, equity and access to online courses. E
  • Oversee the development of resource allocation for facilities, equipment and technologies that sustain assigned areas. E
  • Serve as representative of the district on local, state and national research, planning and advisory groups; participate on assigned committees. E
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and innovations in community colleges and higher education including instruction, library and distance education. E
  • Ensure compliance with district policies and procedures, collective bargaining contract provisions, state and federal laws and regulation, such as copyright and intellectual property rights and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). E
  • Identify, write, and administer grant and revenue generating proposals consistent with the district strategic plans. E
  • Expand online courses through an innovative common online learning environment. E
  • Assign faculty, monitor schedules and faculty and staff workload for accuracy. Assure accurate and timely attendance reporting for all courses offered in the division. E
  • Provide leadership for program review including improvement and development, systemic assessment of student learning outcomes and progress, learning and service area outcomes; review and recommend changes to maintain relevance of programs in order to meet students and community needs. E
  • Collaborate with faculty and deans to plan for curriculum development, modifications and deletions; set priorities for resource needs and provide program analysis. E
  • Facilitate partnerships with high schools, four-year transfer institutions and local agencies. E
  • Select, train, and evaluate faculty administrators and classified staff. E
  • Manage and support budget for assigned areas; direct the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; direct the preparation of the annual budget and implement of budgetary adjustments as necessary. E
  • Respond to, and seek resolution of complaints arising from assigned areas, including participating in the grievance process.  E
  • Supervise the preparation of external publications, such as class schedules, annual catalogs, brochures, manuals and directories. E
  • Coordinate and ensure the accuracy of course and instructor information in the college's mainframe computer. E
  • Ensure compliance in matters of program and course approval, long-range planning, accreditation of programs. E
  • Review and update the course classification system, inventory of programs, and master course data file; assist with planning, organizing, developing and maintaining the transfer list for articulation and graduation. E
  • Review and maintain appropriate quantitative measurements, statistical reports and other records to assess accomplishments and future needs. E
  • Promote and maintain positive working relationships among faculty, administrators and staff. E

Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree and a minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience including supervision and evaluation of instruction, distance education or library services, as well as staff and budget management.

PREFERRED:
  • Doctorate; five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in administration including at least two (2) years of full-time administrative experience in instruction, distance education and library.

Positions & Duties
  • The San José Public Library is seeking a Senior Librarian to manage the Collections and Technical Services Unit for the library system.  This position oversees a unit with 18.8 FTE.  Activities of the unit include the collection development, receiving, cataloging, processing and maintenance of system-wide collections, both print and non-print.  Collections reflect the diverse needs of the community and are in multiple languages.  The manager oversees a budget of approximately $5 million.  SJPL uses Innovative Interfaces Sierra ILS, including the cataloging, acquisitions, and Electronic Resource Management (ERM) modules but also provides original cataloguing of local, unique and foreign language materials.  The manager oversees the planning, allocation, control and evaluation of programs and budget of the unit.  The oversight includes the evaluations, selection and management of appropriate vendors for library materials in multiple formats.  The manager also works with the Library's contract analyst to monitor Open Purchase Orders and managing the funds for the unit.

  • The manager is part of the SJPL management team and represents the library in regional, state and national forums appropriate to the responsibilities of the role.  Senior Librarians manage a branch library or a major unit of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. main library are responsible for ensuring that system policies, programs and service initiatives are implemented and guide the operations of the branch or unit.  This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating branch/unit operations; preparing and implementing work plans; monitoring branch/unit budgets; planning and implementing programs and outreach to the community; planning and implementing branch/unit goals, objectives and guidelines; ensuring efficient and appropriate delivery of service and programs; and providing guidance and leadership to a professional, paraprofessional and clerical staff.   • This is an excellent part-time job opportunity for an individual to provide staff support and customer service to patrons of the City of Huntington Beach libraries within the Library Services Department. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
  • Reporting to the Deputy City Librarian, the Chief Analytics Officer will lead a new Research, Strategy and Analytics Unit with system-wide charge and organizational responsibility to collect, organize, validate and analyze data from a variety of sources and advance a data-driven culture within San Francisco Public Library (SFPL). The Chief Analytics Officer is a senior management level position and a key member of SFPL’s executive leadership team to improve efficiencies, demonstrate outcomes, provide analytical support and develop performance metrics for new projects and initiatives. Santa Barbra - Westmont College - Roger Voskuyl Library - Liaison Librarian



Position Summary:
  • The Liaison Librarian is a part of the liaison librarian team, which includes providing research assistance, information literacy instruction, outreach, and collection development for assigned academic and co-curricular departments. This position also focuses on outreach and services to our offcampus, transfer, and first year students.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program or equivalent; personal affirmation of the Christian mission of Westmont College and the Community Life Statement and adherence to its behavioral expectations; detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple projects; experience providing reference services, information literacy instruction, and collection development in a library setting desirable, but not required. Also requires: strong written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both as a team member and independently; ability to work well with diverse faculty, staff and students; available to work evening and weekend hours as required.

Essential Duties:
  • Collaborates with other librarians and offices on campus to anticipate and serve the needs of firstyear, transfer, and off-campus students.
  • Serves as a member of the liaison team to provide subject specific instruction, collection development, and research services to meet the needs of students, staff, and faculty in assigned academic and co-curricular departments.
  • Promotes Library resources and services to assigned academic and co-curricular departments.
  • Provides research service initiatives including e-mail, chat, and in-person research assistance to students, faculty, and staff in the Library and beyond.
  • Serves as collection development coordinator for assigned liaison areas.
  • Provides instruction and research consultations for students, staff, and faculty in liaison departments.
  • Develops print and online research guides for assigned academic and co-curricular departments.
  • Provides course-integrated information literacy instruction.
  • Serves on Library, College or professional organization committees.
  • Attends workshops, continuing education programs, library conferences and other professional development opportunities.

  • This position is also part of the liaison librarian team, which includes providing research assistance, information literacy instruction, outreach, and collection development for assigned academic and cocurricular departments.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program or equivalent; personal affirmation of the Christian mission of Westmont College and the Community Life Statement and adherence to its behavioral expectations; some experience in web design and management of electronic resources and online library systems helpful but not required (familiarity with OCLC’s WMS preferred); ability to learn and adapt to new technologies; working knowledge of or willingness to learn HTML, CSS, OpenURL resolvers, EZProxy, and discovery tools; detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple projects. Experience providing reference services, information literacy instruction, and collection development in a library setting desirable but not required. Also requires: strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment; available to work evening and weekend hours as required; awareness of assessment trends in academic libraries highly desirable.


Essential Duties:

Web Services
  • Designs, develops, and coordinates the Library’s online presence using current content management systems and web design tools, promoting current practices of usability and design.
  • Maintains and enhances the Library website and oversee implementation of LibGuides.
  • Manages the implementation and maintenance of electronic resources, acting as a point person for set up and access.
  • Maintains library specific software (including OCLC’s WMS and Knowledge Base, ContentDm, Clio, etc.) and supports library staff in its use.
  • Serves as troubleshooter for all library systems and electronic resources (WMS, ContentDM, Clio, EBSCOhost EJS, etc.).
  • Compiles and maintains library-wide statistics, including running reports on e-resource usage.
  • Oversees assessment of the Library’s electronic presence on the web.
