Summary
Under general supervision, provides a variety of library services to patrons; assists public with acquiring the knowledge and skills to utilize available resources of the library; promotes library and its services to accommodate and fulfill the needs of the community.

Participates in book collection development activities; examines resource and collection materials; makes program acquisitions through multiple sources such as news agencies, bookstores, catalogues retailers and markets; reads and evaluates book reviews from professional journals; recommends new book purchases.
Prepares and implements schedule of Family Storytime; greets children and parents attending reading; facilitates activities consisting of reading and discussing selected books, craft activities and educational field trips; interacts with audience and establishes comfortable and relaxed environment; responds to questions and needs of audience.
Conducts outreach functions; attends and participates in meetings with literacy and other community service agencies; advertises and promotes services of children's department through newspapers and schools, distributes flyers and attending community events; assists with fund raising events; provides tour of facilities.
Represents Butte County library at regional library system committees; professional and program development conferences and workshops; participates in discussions; takes notes; shares information with library staff; contacts local officials for assistance with programs.
Works with children of different ages and development abilities, siblings, parents, teachers, school officials, community members and organizations; acts as liaison between participants, Library Literacy Program and participating libraries and schools.
Gathers, compiles and analyzes computerized statistical data for ongoing library records; develops and prepares forms and related documents; maintains and files paperwork; maintains records of donations and writes acknowledgement and appreciation letters; searches and utilizes on-line resources sites for programs, reports, activities collection materials and other functions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
Four (4) years experience working in libraries, teaching or bookstores.
A State of California driver's license may be required.

Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Collection Management Services, the LSSIV serves as the lead for the department’s acquisitions team. Assists Department Head with various activities, including: budgeting, goal setting, initiating new procedures and technologies, evaluating programs and services. Provides support to collection development and management decision-making by preparing Alma Analytics, financial, and statistical reports.
Oversees the work of staff who order, claim, and receive library materials. Responsible for quality control, problem solving, drafting procedures, compiling statistics and analysis regarding the daily workflow of acquisitions: the acquisition, receipt, renewal of library materials; payment of invoices; account reconciliation; interaction with campus accounting personnel and various vendors of library materials.

In consultation with the Department Head, responsibilities include: recommending and implementing new procedures; anticipating, testing, and recommending new technologies; participating in the assessment of department operations and functions; preparing budget requests and reports; drafting documentation; providing training to department staff; collecting, recording, and reporting statistics; interpreting library procedures and policies pertaining to the acquisition of library materials.

Summary
The Sacramento Public Library is seeking dynamic, forward thinking candidates for our Circulation Supervisor position. The Circulation Supervisor provides complex and responsible paraprofessional library work as a supervisor of circulation functions in a branch library or library unit.  He/she also provides supervision and leadership to unit or branch staff and performs other related duties as assigned. 

Essential Functions:
1. Oversee and coordinate all circulation functions in a public-service setting (e.g. materials check out/in, processing holds, delivery, cash handling and preparation of deposits, etc.)
2. Provide customer service including reader’s advisory, information, reference and referral, and assistance in using technology.
3. Assign, prioritize and schedule staff.
4. Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training of personnel; resolve personnel issues; review and evaluate the work of front–line staff, shelvers and volunteers.
5. Interpret and apply procedures, policies, administrative rules and regulations for library staff and customers.
6. Assist internal and external customers in person, over the telephone, or through electronic communication, respond to and resolve customer issues, concerns, and complaints.
7. Prepare, maintain, and provide statistics and reports.
8. Monitor shelver budget.
9. Work with a variety of systems and equipment (e.g. integrated library system, public access computers, print management system, scheduling software, room reservations software, electronic resources, etc.)
10. Monitor equipment and work area; coordinate purchases and/or repairs.
11. Attend meetings and participate in committees and team activities.
12. May require travel throughout the library service area. 
13. May require working at various locations during the course of the workday or workweek. 
14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
Knowledge of:
1.Public library operations, services, and activities.
2.Current trends and innovations in public librarianship and information delivery, including emergent
technologies. 
3.Excellent customer service principles and practices.
4.English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; basic alphabetical and numeric filing methods; basic mathematical principles.

EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years as a Library Services Assistant, Library Technology Assistant or related paraprofessional library position OR two (2) years in a supervisorial capacity in a customer service environment is required.
