Job Description


To cover for the full time Faculty Librarian during her tenure as Senate Elect. There are no set dates or times established. This will be an as needed basis. The Librarian’s tenure as Senate Elect begins Summer 2014 and will continue until Summer 2015. (The Senate Elect position is 20% overload.)

Assist students with reference questions and conduct bibliographic instruction (B.I.)for a wide range of classes. May need to assist at circulation desk checking in and out materials. Bibliographic Instruction is conducted at the request of the instructor, hence; no established times are available at this moment. Instruction takes place any time of the day and evening. (The librarian conducted 82 B.I’s 2013-14).

Qualifications


Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science (MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited program) OR a California Community College Instructor credential appropriate to the subject OR the equivalent.

Familiarity with subscription databases, such as Gale and Ebsco, is strongly desired.

Modesto Junior College (MJC) is seeking an adjunct librarian to be in an on-going pool or to substitute as needed. Hours can include evenings or weekends. MJC librarians teach effective research strategies in print and online resources and provide reference services in a multimedia environment to students and faculty.

Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; familiarity with information compentency/literacy concepts and programs; experience providing instruction in an academic library and in the classroom; experience teaching classes utilizing effective search strategies to access resources; awareness of various learning styles and teaching strategies; enthusiastic approach to working collaboratively with students and faculty; willingness to facilitate students’ learning by working to develop varied and innovative learning environments; interest in promoting library services to a multicultural population; experience with HTML, multimedia and presentation software; experience with Libguides and various electronic databases, such as Gale and EBSCO; excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills; knowledge of AACRII revised, RDA, Library of Congress subject headings, MARC format, OCLC; experience with collection development.

Job Description


College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to serve as librarians within its Learning Resource Center. 

Adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening classes at the Visalia Campus, the Hanford Educational Center, or the Tulare College Center.

Adjunct faculty applications which meet the required minimum qualifications are kept on file for one year from the date the application is received.   
 
Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions and do not accrue rights to tenure.

Job Duties


Under the general direction of a dean or director, adjunct librarians will provide library services to students.

Qualifications


To work as an adjunct faculty member at the College of the Sequoias, you must meet the minimum qualifications as established by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.

Job Description


Part time librarians provide general reference service and instruction on the use of print and electronic resources.

Part-time faculty may also have opportunities to participate in various campus and staff development activities and are encouraged to be involved in the larger College or District community. Part-time faculty may be eligible to receive additional pay for office hours, additional assignments, and professional development events.

Duties and Responsibilities


Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Conduct library orientations
  • Participate in collection development
  • Teach Library credit courses
  • Participate in the development and delivery of public programs
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Standard duties expected of all part-time faculty include the performance of instructional, counselor, or librarian duties as assigned; evaluation and assessment of student work; and timely submission of grades. In addition, part-time faculty are expected to participate in the assessment of their performance, including administrative and student evaluations.
