Job Description

    The library operates under a team-based structure and library faculty perform multiple roles, including technical services, public services, user instruction, access and discovery of materials.

        Managing the library’s electronic and digital resources through various library platforms, including but not limited to Alma/Primo and OCLC WorldShare/Connexion.
        Collaborating with area colleagues to facilitate projects, workflows, goals, and outcomes related to technical services.

JOB DESCRIPTION

El Camino College (ECC) is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Librarian specializing in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) efforts to join its team. This position will encourage positive race-consciousness and embrace human difference within the library and its services; support culturally responsive practices within the library; and strategically build buy-in and participation among colleagues for equity-related initiatives within the department. We are seeking applicants who have a commitment to student success and can participate in a team environment dedicated to excellent service and culturally responsive librarianship that addresses the racial, gender, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity within our community college student population. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The DEIA Librarian will perform outreach ties with programs across campus and ECC Affinity Centers, such as the Social Justice Center, Black Student Success Center, and others. Responsibilities include engaging underserved students using a variety of approaches that improve first-year student retention and student success. Primary duties include integrating instructional support and co-curricular activities as well as collaborating with the Outreach Librarian to support the library's efforts in outreach and marketing of library services. The successful candidate will have responsibility for helping students remain on their paths in a manner that is integrated and intrusive by providing equity-minded leadership in the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the library services.

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Office Coordination


  • Monitor and send correspondence and inquiries regarding Library operations (library services, administrative queries, donation offers, etc.).

Position Summary

Position Summary


Working independently under the general supervision of the Head of Collection Management Services, and in close collaboration with the Acquisitions Coordinator, the Library Services Specialist III (LSS III) – Acquisitions is responsible for troubleshooting, advising, and assisting department staff with problems involving order records, invoices, fixed-cost renewals, vendors and publishers, and any other aspects of the acquisition of library materials. This position assists with quality control, problem solving, drafting procedures, and compiling statistics and analyses regarding the daily workflow of collections and budget. The incumbent reviews and monitors library materials accounts and interacts with the Library Budget Analyst, campus accounting personnel, and various vendors of library materials to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions. This position requires a thorough level of technical expertise to gather, coordinate, and analyze library collections data, then report data in easy-to-comprehend reports or visualizations. This position oversees the department’s Student Assistant budget and hiring process and shares Student Assistant lead work direction.

In consultation with the Department Head and Acquisitions Coordinator, duties include but are not limited to interpreting library procedures and policies pertaining to the acquisition of library materials; preparing budget requests and reports; paying invoices; reconciling library materials accounts; participating in the assessment of department operations and functions; tracking expenditures and cost increases over time; drafting documentation; providing training to department staff; and analyzing and preparing reports on the Library’s print and electronic collections, in particular using Alma Analytics.
 

Minimum Qualifications

Reference/Information Referral

Training/Program Development

Develop, construct materials for, and seek alternative funding sources (e.g., grant proposals, entrepreneurial enterprises, etc.);

GENERAL SUMMARY


Responsible for the management of all activities associated with the campus library circulation processes and customer service.
