Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Library Supervisor 2, responsible for purchasing more complex library materials in all formats, requiring advanced bibliographic skills and decision-making ability. Establishes and maintains vendor records for serials orders in the integrated library system. Ensures that effective communication is maintained with Collection Strategies, subject librarians, other library staff and vendors. Enters invoices in an integrated library system and forwards to Library Financial Services. Works closely with the section's head, California Digital Library staff, the Acquisitions Librarian and cataloging staff to ensure the smooth integration of electronic resources, both consortia and locally licensed, into the library's collection.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience using a bibliographic database for retrieving, interpreting and editing records appropriately.
Experience performing detailed tasks with sustained concentration.
Skills to work as part of a team.
Skills to comprehend correspondence and written instruction.
Experience using interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of persons both in and outside the Library.
Skills to independently organize tasks and establish priorities to meet workload requirements and deadlines.
Computer skills to accurately edit and retrieve online records.
Skills to interact tactfully and courteously with people of diverse backgrounds.
Math skills to perform basic computations and maintain statistics of work performed.
Skills to independently exercise good judgment and make decisions within established guidelines.
Skills to learn unit workflow and adapt to changing procedures.
Skills to train, guide and review work of other staff.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills to resolve routine and non-routine problems.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of library procedures and technical services operations; serials background strongly preferred.
Skills with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of common foreign languages, especially Western European, sufficient to verify and process titles using the Roman alphabet.
Knowledge of electronic and print bibliographic tools used in English and common foreign languages.
