Examples of Duties: The duties listed below are examples of the work typically performed by employees in this class. An employee may not be assigned all duties listed and may be assigned duties, which are not listed below. 

Provides excellent customer service when dealing with the public. Provides professional Librarian service to the public by answering research and reference questions; Assists with homework questions for children (primarily eighth grade and under); plans, prepares, and implements story times; evaluates assigned sections of the children’s materials collection for the selection of new purchases and replacements and de-selection of outdated materials; provides reader’s advisory services for children, parents, and teachers. Other duties include: supervising volunteers; participates in outreach to the schools and to the community at-large; compiles lists, bibliographies, and pathfinders for locating children’s materials; Provides instruction in the use of the computer catalog; children’s CD-ROM computer, and Internet; prepares bulletin board and book displays, craft projects, and publicity releases; and coordinates exhibits for the children’s display case. Performs other related duties as required.
