Situated between rolling hills and the San Francisco Bay,
the Berkeley Public
Library, established in 1893, consists of a Central Library, four
neighborhood branch libraries, a Tool Lending Library. With the Library’s
collection of over 600,000 items the Library’s total annual circulation topped
1.76 billion, the highest per capita circulation in the state. Over 120 free public-use
computers and unlimited WiFi continued to offer unrestricted access to the
Internet and was further expanded with the introduction of laptop and tablet
lending programs. Daily, the Library sponsors or hosts a diverse program
of activities and events with appeal to all age and interest groups. On
any given day there is likely to be a film, seminar, lecture, or children’s
program going on somewhere in the Library.
The Berkeley Public Library is looking for qualified and energetic candidates to fill a Supervising Librarian vacancy at our newly constructed South Branch Library. Candidates placed on this eligible list will also be considered for any vacancies at the Supervising Librarian level that occur during the next year.
The Supervising Librarian is the full supervisory class in the professional librarian series. Qualified candidates should possess an interest in and the ability to: supervise professional, technical and support staff; design and implement services and programs; conduct outreach, reference services, collection development and budget planning. Base Salary Range: $83,280-$100,320
Benefits:100% Health Insurance; Delta Dental covers 90% of services with $2000 annual cap; $25k in Life Insurance with option to purchase supplemental coverage; CalPERS Retirement formula is either 2% at age 62, or 2.7% at age 55 depending on the individual's eligibility; three weeks vacation + 3 floating holidays; drastically discounted membership to nearby YMCA and transit subsidies.
