JOB SUMMARY
The position works closely with Serials and Acquisitions staff to receive, process and maintain library materials. The position assumes daily shifts at the Circulation Desk, and independently staffs the Desk on Saturdays. Because this shift is unsupervised it requires independent judgment in applying established guidelines to specific issues. The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a multi-faceted and team workgroup environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires ability to sit and work at computer terminal for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift and move books and sets of volumes to and from shelves and book trucks.
Must be able to unpack book shipments and place on book trucks.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT
To assist with providing adequate staffing and coverage during the library's open hours, regular work hours during Law School instruction periods are T-F, 8am-5pm, and Sat. 12pm-4pm ; during Law School recess and holiday periods the regular hours are Mon. 12pm-4pm, T-F, 8am-5pm. Alternate schedules may be approved as feasible.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
Experience evaluating materials and interpreting publishers' instructions.

Experience with word processing, email and database programs.

Knowledge of library practices and procedures.

Computer skills in a Windows environment.

Interpersonal communications skills to interact with various constituents of King Hall and deliver services to patrons at the Circulation desk.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and help where needed.

Ability to comprehend written procedures and oral instructions.

Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to details, and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.

Preferred

Experience using an online catalog.

Experience searching library catalogs such as MORT, MELVYL, World Cat as well as other online catalogs.
