Research Analyst - Geographic Information Systems - Caltrans - Sacramento

This is a bit outside of the traditional library realm.
It does involve library skill sets, which is why I'm posting it here.

Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications, the applications will be forwarded to the State Personnel Board for review and the applicant's name may be removed from the eligibility list. Under the general direction of the Chief, GIS Development Branch in the Office of CADD and Engineering GIS Support, a Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent performs technical research and analysis for the geographic information system (GIS) and geoprocessing for the branch library, geodatabases, and applications. Work includes systematic, critical, and intensive investigation directed toward either a more comprehensive knowledge of the subject or for use in the resolution of program related issues. Some projects will require problem exploration and definition, planning the approach and solution methodology, collecting data, interpreting findings, and documenting of findings in a structured, professional format. Liaison with internal and external GIS partners will involve acquiring, assembling, and structuring data for GIS products and participation in GIS training and meetings. The scope of support and liaison will include Districts and Engineering Service Center staff.
