California State University Fullerton Pollak Library is seeking an energetic librarian who is innovative, technologically adept and service oriented, with a background in collection development.

Position

The Collection Development Librarian works in close collaboration with personnel from appropriate Library units in developing, evaluating and assessing the Library's collections to support the University's core mission. Librarians at CSUF have faculty status and are expected to meet promotion and tenure requirements, including scholarly and professional activities.

Serves as the primary liaison between selection librarians and the Collection Development Team.

Chairs and/or serves on the Collection Development Team.

Coordinates the Library's gifts program.

Provides leadership in the application of new technologies related to collection development/management.

Participates in CPS Unit leadership team, defining strategies for acquiring and delivering resources to the CSUF community.

Monitors developments within the publishing industry, innovations/trends in library collection development practices such as advances in scholarly communication, institutional repositories, and the expanding e-book market.

Represents the Library on appropriate CSU committees/teams that promote collaboration among libraries in purchasing and sharing library materials and other resource.

Provides limited direct public services to users at the Reference Desk.

Rank & Salary

The position will be at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian, tenure-track. Salary range will be from $57,084 to $63,103, commensurate with rank, experience and qualifications. The Library's Web site (http://www.library.fullerton.edu) is a vital component of the Library's extensive instruction program and serves as a gateway to resources. The Library contains 1.3 million books, government documents, and audiovisual materials; over 50,000 periodicals available electronically or in print; and over 200 electronic databases. The Library uses the Innovative Interfaces integrated library system, SFX, and Metalib. The staff includes 20 FTE librarians and 35 FTE paraprofessionals.
