Manage the day-to-day supervision of 30-40 students. Assign work, monitor performance, attendance and provide follow-up training/corrective action/referral. Participate in the hiring, training, and evaluating student assistants with the Stacks Supervisor. Act as Stacks Lead in supervisor's absence and perform special projects. As a member of the Access Services Department there is an expectation of cross-training in a team setting.

Under general supervision, provides service at the Circulation Desk. Circulation job functions include: directing circulation student employees and circulation desk workflows, charging, discharging, recalling, and placing holds on library materials, accepting searches, answering and referring questions, and issuing library cards and privileges.

The University Library is a rapidly changing environment. Creativity and flexibility are necessary in order to successfully meet the needs of a changing landscape.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Library of Congress Classification System to place items in correct call number order.

Experience in training, guiding, and reviewing the work of others, and providing clear instructions orally and in writing.

Experience establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with a wide variety of staff and patrons.

Experience working in customer service.

Experience managing a fluctuating workload under pressure of frequent interruptions and deadlines, and coordinating and prioritizing a wide variety of assignments from various work initiators.

Work Environment:
No eating or drinking in work area.

Work in areas where there is constant traffic and heavy person-to-person contact.

Work hours are 8am to 5pm.
