The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) is a large
complex teaching, research and clinical department. The mission of the
Department is to improve the health of people using approaches based in
epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, and behavioral science through
research, educational programs, clinical programs, public service, and policy
development.

Qualifications
REQUIRED
--Experience in abstracting and indexing,
database/distribution list management, public/customer service, circulation,
organizing/maintaining accounts, records and/or files.
--Competency and ability to use a personal computer and
various computer software (HTML, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop) and web-based
information/database systems, Microsoft Office, social media tools.
--Consistent attention to detail.
--Excellent written and verbal telephone communication skills
to communicate with resource center patrons throughout California.
--Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and
adapt to changing needs.
--Ability to show initiative and work independently.
--Experience compiling data for reports and spreadsheets.
--Experience writing/creating e-publications or marketing
materials.
--Experience and ability to research information and prepare
reports.
--Experience working with Tobacco Control preferred.
--Experience providing assistance in a virtual/remote setting
preferred.
--May be required to travel locally to offsite
meetings/events
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Responsibilities
The Rover Resource Center, funded through a PHS contract with
the California Department of Public Health, Tobacco Control Program, is based
in the Department of Public Health Sciences.
Supervised by the Community Health Program Manager-Supervisor, the Library
Assistant II is responsible for providing a range of services and resources to
meet the information needs of the various users. Specific duties include but
are not limited to: creating bibliographic records/abstracts and
maintaining/updating website content; providing dissemination services;
maintaining distribution and contacts lists; collection maintenance; assisting
with creating and/or distributing current awareness and marketing resources;
assisting with providing reference and research services; and updating
databases of resources and policy-related materials. Contact with resource
center users is primarily through e-mail and telephone. This 50% time, career
position is a grant-funded position with an end date of February 28, 2019 for
funding purposes only. The grant will likely be refunded.
