Description:
Provides reference assistance, instructional and outreach
services, and assists with support of instructional technology and digital
repository.
Essential Functions
1. Provides reference services. Participates in the Library
liaison program with faculty members. Provides library resource and legal
bibliographic instruction by means of class presentations, informal workshops,
small group seminars, and individualized instruction.
2. Provides instructional and outreach services.
3. Supports Head of Library Technology and Instruction
Support with digital initiatives, including digital repository, and
instructional technology.
4. Participates in professional activities and continuing
education. Serves on library, law school, and university committees as assigned.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree in library or
information science from ALA-accredited school, and J.D. degree from accredited
ABA law school (or J.D./LL.B. degree from Canadian law school, or other foreign
law degree at J.D. level combined with a U.S. LL.M degree from an accredited
ABA law school).
Preferred Qualifications
• Education and/or Experience: Strong academic credentials.
Knowledge of legal research in all formats. Three years of relevant
professional experience, preferably in an academic law library. Experience
teaching legal research or ability to develop expertise as a classroom
instructor.
• Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully
with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance
diversity and inclusion.
• Communication & Reasoning: High quality communication,
interpersonal and organizational skills. Self-starter who undertakes projects
and meets deadlines. Understanding and familiarity with library related
technology. Substantial experience using computer-based research tools.
Service-oriented and able to work well in team environments. Collaborative
management style, team player, open to creative approaches to librarianship and
legal education generally.
• Computer Skills & Technical Skills: Perform accurate
computations, type accurately; set priorities and schedule time effectively,
handle detail work; communicate effectively with publishers and vendors; meet
deadlines; handle information and materials of a confidential nature; and
relate positively to faculty and staff.
