Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) is seeking an equity-minded individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, community, and students in a learning- and learner-centered environment. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Learning Resources Department at SRJC, beginning fall semester, August 2020. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.
The Library and Information Resources department at Santa Rosa Junior College provides a diverse array of instructional support services district-wide. There are two library facilities: Doyle Library at the Santa Rosa campus and Mahoney Library at the Petaluma campus. Instructional collections include over 200,000 books and e-books, 45 electronic databases and a discovery search interface. All holdings, print or electronic, are available through a shared library services platform and accessible online. The department's program emphasizes instruction in the areas of information competency and effective research methods. There are close to 800 students enrolled in Information Literacy classes per semester, and faculty librarians teach all class sections.
The SRJC Petaluma Campus currently enrolls nearly 6,000 students in credit and non-credit courses.Each semester, approximately 250 course sections in nearly 60 disciplines are offered, including many majors and certificates as well as courses necessary for transfer to UC, CSU, or to complete SRJC's local AA/AS degrees. SRJC has been offering courses in the Petaluma area for over 50 years; in 1995 permanent facilities on the current 40 acre site were completed. In 2008, SRJC tripled the square footage of the campus with an extensive expansion and remodel project. Among the new facilities are life sciences labs, a second art studio, physical science labs, a 35,000 square foot library, a physical fitness center, a bookstore, student services and support areas (including student health services, student life and leadership, admissions and records, counseling, disabled student services, tutorial center, and career/transfer center), expanded dining space, classrooms/technology labs, faculty/administrative offices, digital media lab, and a 256-seat auditorium with some of the best media technology in the District. The campus offers state-of-the-art technology throughout, including a wireless network, fully mediated instructional facilities, and video-conferencing capabilities. Other unique features of the Petaluma Campus include the Capri Creek restoration project, community and permaculture gardens, sustainable design, and an accessible pedestrian and bike trail system with a route that extends around the perimeter of the campus and continues throughout the city of Petaluma. Some of the unique program offerings on the Petaluma Campus are the fall and spring Research Conferences, Cinema Series, annual LumaFest community education fair and open house, Veterinary Technology certificate, Digital Media certificate, Water Utility Operations certificates, CISCO Networking certification in CCNA, IT Support certificate, and Fitness, Nutrition and Health certificate. The campus is also host to SRJC's Gateway to College Academy, a middle college program for students earning college credits while working towards a high school diploma; a bustling Intercultural Center; and several learning communities. SRJC Petaluma has more than 40 full-time faculty and 150 adjunct faculty members who enjoy interdisciplinary collaborations with their colleagues. Our faculty fully utilize the campus as an indoor/outdoor learning environment. SRJC Petaluma offers students a full complement of Student Services with a mission to "Welcome, guide, and engage" students. This beautiful campus is located only 35 miles north of San Francisco.
This position is responsible for a full range of professional duties such as: providing instruction to a diverse community through various means including online and in-person reference services, research appointments, course-integrated instruction sessions, workshops, and Library and Information Resources (LIR) credit courses; serving as a collection development and instruction librarian liaison to departments in assigned subject areas across the curriculum; developing instructional materials using traditional and emerging technology; participating in the management of digital resources and services; working collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals; directing classified staff; and performing additional duties as assigned, including possible night and weekend service.
SRJC offers courses at two campuses, located in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, as well as multiple satellite locations within the district, including online. While this assignment is for the Petaluma campus, the district reserves the right of assignment to any location, and assignments could involve any combination of day or evening hours. Instructors assume responsibility for maintaining currency in the field, for updating existing courses and developing new curricula (including courses that serve community needs, such as short, non- credit, or online courses), assisting in the assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in department activities and other college service such as committee work, and participating in marketing and community outreach on behalf of the department and the college.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Master's Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited institution; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Credential in Library Science.
- Requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Preferred
- Experience in providing in-person and online reference services at an academic library.
- Experience in teaching via online and in-person instruction sessions or courses in Information Literacy
- Experience developing learner-centered instructional materials for a diverse student population.
- Experience with marketing and outreach strategies.
