Minimum Qualifications:
1) MLS/MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library institution;
2) Demonstrated experience in electronic resource management in an academic library;
3) Demonstrated knowledge of the electronic resources lifecycle including acquisition, workflow management, authentication, troubleshooting, and assessment;
4) Evidence of excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and trends in electronic resource management in an academic library;
2) Working knowledge of digital tools, standards, and initiatives, such as COUNTER, SUSHI, Open URL, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), KBART, and ONIX;
3) Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and trends in electronic publishing environment and scholarly communication;
4) Experience working with library management systems (e.g. ExLibris Alma); discovery layers (e.g. ExLibris Primo/Primo VE), institutional repositories (e.g. Samvera); and/or journal publishing platforms (e.g. Open Journal Systems).
Duties:
As a member of the Collections, Discovery & Content Management Department, the Electronic Resources & Digital Publishing Librarian will bring forward-thinking, innovative and strategic approaches to the library’s electronic resource acquisitions, management and maintenance that are supportive and responsive to changes in learning and teaching styles, and the University’s curriculum. The incumbent will provide leadership in promoting new forms of scholarly publishing and expand library services in support of online/digital journal publishing and faculty/student digital scholarly content archiving and preservation. The librarian will exercise broad independent judgment under the general direction of the Collections & Digital Content Strategies Librarian and Dean of the University Library.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership in the organization and access to the library’s extensive electronic resource collections;
- Assist the Collections & Content Strategies Librarian with license and price negotiations, maintaining vendor relations and consortial relations within the CSU and beyond;
- In collaboration with the Systems & Digital Strategies Librarian, ensure the discoverability and reliable access to electronic resources in the library’s management, discovery and authentication systems
- Work closely with subject librarians and Collections, Discovery & Content Management staff to support electronic collection development, management ,discovery, and maintenance;
- Analyze usage data and utilize metrics, analytic tools and established evaluation criteria to support data-driven resource development decisions;
- Maintain timely, accurate data about electronic resources in a variety of systems such as Alma, Central Discovery Index, link resolver, A-Z database list, and discovery services;
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and answer questions from users on technical and access problems and provide solutions in a timely fashion;
- Keep current on new developments, trends and implications in the areas of managing electronic resources, including licensing issues, copyright, standards, electronic resource management systems, etc., and inform others as appropriate.
- Provide leadership in the support and advancement of the University’s Institutional Repository (ScholarWorks), online journal systems and other digital publishing and archiving initiatives;
- Provide training and support for library personnel on the use of electronic resources, including ebook use, their acquisitions and impact on reserves, interlibrary lending, downloading, printing, etc.
