Temporary Social Sciences Librarian - San Diego State University

San Diego State University Library and Information Access is seeking a temporary half time (20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends) Social Sciences Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Reference, the successful candidate will provide reference (face-to-face and virtual) in all areas plus instruction and research support to the social sciences and business. The temporary librarian will also participate in instruction for basic composition classes as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education in or experience with the social sciences and business
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Job-related experience with online catalogs, reference databases, and other online research tools

Salary and Appointment: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; current half-time salary range is $23,742 - $32,082 per year. Appointment will be as Assistant Librarian for a six-month period, with possible reappointment for an additional six months. Excellent benefits, including medical, dental and vision plans.
