LAC Group seeks Digitization Technicians to work on a digitization project in Los Angeles, CA. The Technician will be handling, preparing, and scanning various media formats including rare and fragile archival materials. This is a full-time benefitted position.
Responsibilities
- Must properly handle fragile and rare archival materials in a variety of formats.
- Prepare materials for scanning.
- Scan archival materials using consistent and accurate naming of file images.
- Follow standards and procedures established for the project.
Qualifications
- Ability to operate a computer and a scanner.
- Experience handling new and rare materials, varying size and formats, film negatives, and acetates.
- Knowledge of scanners from Epson flatbed, Nikon, 5000 and 9000 series, and digital SLR scanning.
- Ability to work effectively with supervision and be a part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to thrive working in an environment with people from all backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community.
- Ability to creatively problem solve, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Library, archive or scanning experience highly desirable.
