Los Angeles - University (Unspecified) - Library Materials Processing Clerk

LAC Group seeks an experienced Library Materials Processing Clerk for a contract position with a University located in Downtown Los Angeles. This is a 4 month position, starting immediately and ending in July, with a focus on processing library and archival materials. The Clerk will provide support to the organization, primarily in the areas of materials processing, bar-coding, security tagging, basic cataloging and shelving. This is a full-time evening position working 40 hour per week , Monday – Friday, and pays $12.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include and are not limited to: 
• Process library materials of all media formats;
• Place security targets in books and follow specific procedures for tagging and stamping; • Lookup materials in online cataloging system to check record;
• Print and label each material;
• Identify problems encountered in routing or processing library materials; then resolve or report those problems;
• Compile basic statistics on work accomplished daily and/or weekly, or in other increments, as required;
• Ability to follow standard procedures in the physical processing and routing of incoming and outgoing collections items.

Qualifications:
• The work requires focused attention to detail and the ability to follow standard procedures in the physical processing and routing of incoming and outgoing collections items;
• Ability to perform work with attention to detail and follow through to a conclusion;
• Communicate tactfully with members of the public and with library staff;
• Pushing/pulling fully loaded book trucks, loading and unloading books and other moving and lifting requirements as needed;
• 1 year relevant work experience;
• Previous experience using a Library ILS system is preferred;
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
• Ability to problem-solve as appropriate.
• Experience working with a personal computer and relevant library software;
• Good verbal and written communication skills;
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to train and supervise others.
• Ability to work independently
