Library Area - Special Project - Instructional Assistant - Library (Temporary)  
Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the assigned manager/supervisor, assists library faculty by working with students individually or in groups for the improvement of academic knowledge and technical skills;, and does related work as required. Assists librarians by instructing students individually and in groups to access, utilize, and troubleshoot various electronic sources. These include: the Los Rios Online Information System (LOIS - the library catalog) for books, ebooks, and media; over 40 databases for periodical, newspaper, and journal articles; desire to learn (D2L) Los Rios' course management system; e-services for registration, schedules, and password resetting; Microsoft Office software; and PILOT, a library information competency database. Assists students with computers and other hardware as needed. Helps students clarify assignments and redirects to librarians for research and complex inquiries. Responsibilities:
Staffs the lab in Learning Resource Center 220 when open to all students or assists librarian with instructional classes in classroom; assists students on computers in the second floor open area; assists at reference desk; may assist with loose-leaf filing; assists with copiers, printers, and card machines; counts using library system (currently III) and re-shelves reference materials; corrects workshop exercises; assists with study room sign-ups; and performs related duties as required.  
Minimum Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in student assisting or other end-user related positions. Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word and familiarity with other software in Office Suite; ability to address problems in logical sequence and resolve or refer to next level; ability to learn new computer skills and applications quickly. EDUCATION: Completion of an Associate's Degree or 60 semester units (90 quarter units) with 21 units in courses that utilized D2L, Word, LOIS, or other software. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. (Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: 12 units are equal to six months of education; 24 units are equal to one year of education.)

* TRANSCRIPTS:
- Individuals who have completed college or university course work at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts, degrees and other relevant documents. A foreign transcript evaluation is required any time foreign course work is used to meet minimum qualifications even if the foreign transcript has been accepted by a college or university in the United States.
- Graduate advising documents and grade reports will not be accepted as unofficial transcripts.
- It is the responsibility of Los Rios CCD employees to provide transcripts for the application process, if required by position.
