Salary/Wage

Starting salary range: $55,015.41
– $86,069.03 annually. An annual stipend of $1,345.18 shall be paid to any
faculty member who has an earned Doctorate from an accredited institution.
Academic training and teaching
experience will form the basis for salary computation as determined by
placement on the regular salary schedule of the College. A maximum of step 8

Primary Function
|
The Librarian/Assistant Professor
will be primarily responsible for coordinating a library operation and
providing collection development and management.
|
|
Duties and Responsibilities
|
Duties include collection
development and management of library resources in all formats, including
selection, shelving management and e-resource configuration, coordinating
order and acquisitions processes, monitoring expenditures and licenses, and
directing library staff. Duties also include participating in reference
service and library instruction, maintaining regular office hours, curriculum
and program development, development and assessment of student learning
outcomes, full participation in department activities, and participation in
college governance.

Minimum Qualifications
|
Must meet one of the sets of
qualifications listed under a) through b):
a) A Master’s degree in library science, or library and information science. b) A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in a) above. You must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form ( www.palomar.edu/hr/equivalency-app/) if you do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above, which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application.
Only coursework completed at, and
degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department
of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications.
Candidates who have earned degrees from foreign institutions are required to
submit both official translations and course-by-course evaluations of their
transcripts that have been prepared by a certified U.S. credential review
service that is a member of the National Association of Credentials

acquisitions practices, including ordering, managing expenditures and
licenses, e-resource configuration, vendor/publisher relations, purchasing
models, and data/usage management.
6. Experience with established and
emerging bibliographic and acquisitions tools, such as ILS, discovery
systems, and OCLC. Knowledge of current cataloging and metadata rules and
best practices.
7. Experience or interest in
coordinating a library operation, staff scheduling, and supervision.
8. Reference experience, including
use of a variety of information resources.
9. Experience teaching and
assessing information literacy.
10. Experience creating and
maintaining web pages, social media, online learning modules, and utilizing
other related technology.
11. Knowledge of or interest in
planning/remodeling of library facilities.
12. Evidence of or interest in
institutional governance (e.g. serving on campus-wide, faculty, or student
committees).
13. Evidence of an ability to work
effectively, constructively and professionally with students, colleagues, and
others.

Terms of Employment
|
This is a full-time, 10 months per
