Sacramento City College is a multi-campus urban college with its main campus in a park-like setting located in the heart of the Sacramento metropolitan area. Serves as the lead person of the entire library/media center operation and may be responsible for a unit (technical services, public services, media services). Incumbents have a thorough understanding of the entire library/media center operation and have sufficient knowledge of all units to provide assistance, training, and /or backup in any unit. Serves as the lead for three or more regular staff in the library/media center operation; oversees lower level staff and/or students working in the library/media center operation. Incumbents work under the general supervision of the assigned manager/supervisor. GENERAL:
● Serves as lead person for library/media center operations.
● Serves as liaison with other district libraries to develop and coordinate policies and procedures for assigned unit of work.
● May be directly responsible for a unit (technical services, public services, media services) prepares financial, statistical and information reports.
● Maintains inventory of department supplies and prepares requisitions for purchases; performs general typing and word processing duties.
● Maintains files of correspondence, memoranda and records.
● Assists in interviewing, training and overseeing student workers and lower level staff.
● Establishes and maintains relationships with outside vendors/suppliers/book jobbers.
● Performs related duties as required.

TECHNICAL SERVICES:
● Supervises the ordering and receiving of book and non-book materials.
● Manages the book and non-book materials budgets including fund appropriations, encumbrances and expenditures.
● Oversees the maintenance of the bibliographic/item records in the library's online catalog.
● Pre-catalogs materials for review by librarians.
● Searches for, edits, and retrieves catalog records using bibliographic utility (OCLC) for use in the library's online database.
● Maintains bindery records.
● Oversees the receiving and check-in of periodicals.
● Orders and maintains periodical subscriptions.
● Oversees inventory of the library collection.
● Performs related duties as required.

PUBLIC SERVICES:
● Oversees the circulation operations of the library including patron registration, material check-in and charge out, overdue notice production, and fine collection.
● Sets up and maintains the reserve materials collection.
● Processes holds on student records.
● Oversees re-shelving of library materials.
● Performs tasks necessary to open and/or close the library facilities.
● Resolves patron complaints or refers them to appropriate staff member.
● Performs related duties as required.

MEDIA SERVICES:
● Oversees the ordering, scheduling, receiving, circulation, and return of staff media requests.
● Assists in classification and cataloging of media materials.
● Oversees the scheduling, distribution, and return of media equipment.
● Schedules and distributes videotape programs for broadcast and prepares broadcast logs.
● Performs related duties as required.  
 
 
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Five years of increasingly responsible library/media experience and an AA degree in library technology or equivalent.

Promotional: One year of experience as Library/Media Technical Assistant in Los Rios CCD and an AA degree in library technology or equivalent. (Promotional applies to regular, current Classified employees working with the Los Rios CCD.)

Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: 12 units are equal to six months of education; 24 units are equal to one year of education.)

- Individuals who have completed college or university course work at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts, degrees and other relevant documents. A foreign transcript evaluation is required any time foreign course work is used to meet minimum qualifications even if the foreign transcript has been accepted by a college or university in the United States.
- Graduate advising documents and grade reports will not be accepted as unofficial transcripts.
- It is the responsibility of Los Rios Community College District employees to provide transcripts for the application process, if required by position.
