Salary: $62,035 - $88,687/annual
Primary Responsibilities
- Serves as Project Leader for the migration of Chabot College’s LSP and its data, including the new local and state-wide systems.
- Extracts and prepares relevant data from the LSP to be distributed and analyzed, including year-end statistics as required for ACRL, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and Accreditation.
- Provides support for third-party. applications that interface with the Alma/Primo system.
- Serves as the initial point of contact for member library staff with questions or concerns about circulation or public access
- Works closely with Ex-Libris and other relevant vendor staff in troubleshooting, developing new system capabilities, and advocating issues on behalf of Chabot Library.
- Designs and modifies API scripts as needed for data retrieval and modification, including global edits.
- Develops new circulation rules based on requests from Chabot Library staff.
- Provides individual and group training to library staff.
- Provides original and final cataloging to library materials that are new or unique to Chabot College Library.
- Assists the Information Literacy and Technology Librarian and the Collections and Online Learning Librarian with maintaining the Library’s web site and related Web services, including the Content Management Systems (Libguides CMS for the Library, Omni Update for the college).
- Works with the Information Literacy and Technology Librarian in making sure databases’ content appears in the Discovery system and that the Link Resolver is working, with updated, correct links to current periodicals/ebooks/streaming films database content.
- Works with the Information Literacy and Technology Librarian and with OCLC on its hosted EZProxy server functionalities with the Primo Discovery system and related Link Resolver.
- Works with District and College IT in making sure student information that is regularly dumped into the LSP is secured and current, including when any outstanding fines have been paid or waived.
- Provide reference services in a multimedia environment to students, staff and faculty.
- Act as a library liaison to at least one instructional division.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s in library science, library and information science, OR the equivalent.
- Experience with an Integrated Library System/Library System Platform, including administrative/back end functions.
- Knowledge of a Discovery service such as Primo or Ebscohost Discovery System.
- Experience in the training of technologies, software and/or databases including working with administrative back ends.
- Experience in cataloging and management of processes in the library’s Technical Services.
- Familiarity with MARC formats for bibliographic and authority records.
- Experience providing reference services in an academic library setting.
- Evidence of ability to work effectively as the leader as a member of the Technical Services team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with current library standards and practices, especially in the areas of circulation, interlibrary loan, and patron privacy.
- Knowledge of RDA, AACR2, and other relevant cataloging standards.
Desirable Qualifications
- Project management experience, preferably with multiple projects.
- Experience with the coordination of multiple personnel.
- Experience with managing quality assurance and testing.
- A track record of on-time project completion.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with current library standards and practices, especially in the areas of circulation, interlibrary loan, and patron privacy.
- Familiarity with tools such as PHP, SQL, Java, C/C++, Perl, Cascading Style Sheets, widgets, and markup languages (HTML, XML, Javascript). Experience with SQL and SQL scripting. Knowledge of FTP and basic UNIX or Linux commands and editing.
- Experience in systems/program development, including programming, analysis and design, testing, implementation, and information architecture are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HTML 4 and 5, CSS, PHP, Libguides, API’s, JavaScript, BootStrap and other similar web programming languages and platforms.
- Knowledge of other Library-related systems such as EBSCOhost Discovery System, Libguides, EZProxy and Stackmap.
- Experience providing information competency instruction in a community college library.
- Strong background and experience with services to the mobile user, including use of mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), sending library notices as text messages, scanning barcodes from mobile devices, library apps, mobile websites, and RSS feeds, and social media including Facebook, and Twitter.
