Salary: Class 1, Step A – Class 6, Step C ($5,783.69 – $7,793.19) per month based on the current AFT – COLLEGE Faculty Tenured-Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule.
Major Responsibilities:
The Equity and Engagement Librarian reports to the Dean of Learning Resources and Academic Support. They will assist in the planning, organization, management, and implementation of various library services and programs as assigned. This is a 10-month position at the Assistant Professor level. The Equity and Engagement Librarian performs outreach and maintains ties with programs across campus and other campus student success initiatives, such as Guided Pathways, Promise, First Year Experience, SEA, and others. Responsibilities include engaging underserved students using a variety of approaches that improve first-year student retention and student success. Primary duties include integrating instructional support and co-curricular activities as well as developing and leading the library’s efforts in outreach and marketing of library service. The successful candidate will have responsibility for “helping students remain on their paths in a manner that is integrated, intrusive, and just in time” by providing equity-minded leadership in the development, assessment and continuous improvement of the library’s reference services, face-to-face and online information literacy instruction program.
Qualifications:
Master’s in library science, library and information science, OR the equivalent.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate:
- Knowledge of various face-to-face and online teaching tools and approaches with emphasis on library instruction techniques, principles and trends;
- Proven track record of self-motivation and proactive initiative with new programs;
- Ability to design and implement innovative outreach programming to connect underserved and disproportionately impacted populations with Library services;
- Ability to work with multiple educational initiatives;
- Success working both independently and within a highly collaborative team environment;
- Skill in developing and assessing library program learning outcomes;
- Understanding of the physical and digital presence of libraries and how each impacts the students’ experience and supports their success;
- Flexibility and receptiveness to new ideas, methods, duties or organizational changes;
- Ability to make effective and appropriate decisions in a timely and efficient manner;
- Experience performing library reference services, including the use of various reference tools;
- Experience working positively and effectively within a culturally diverse environment;
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
