Librarian
Sacramento City College is an urban college in a park-like
setting located in the heart of the Sacramento metropolitan area. The College
is a learning center for approximately 24,000 day and evening students. Founded
in 1916, Sacramento City College is a place of tradition and history, with a
vitality and diversity that is contemporary. The College consists of a main
campus and outreach centers in Davis and West Sacramento. Classes are offered
seven days a week, both day and evening. The faculty and staff of Sacramento
City College value a humanistic approach to learning, teaching, and working
together in a diverse community. The college is a part of the Los Rios
Community College District and uses an interest based approach to dispute
resolution.
Under the supervision of the Dean, Learning Resources and in
collaboration with the other librarians, the Public Services Librarian shall:
provide reference and information services to students and staff; provide
library instruction in a variety of settings; maintain up-to-date instruction
materials for library resources including print and online publications and
services; select materials in subject areas for print and electronic
collections; utilize current and emerging technology in reference and
instruction duties. The Public Services Librarian may: instruct students in
credit courses; develop, coordinate, and assess library instruction and
information competency programs for students and faculty; develop and
coordinate programs to market library resources and services to students and
faculty. These assignments may be reallocated periodically, and assignments may
depend on the interests and qualifications of the library faculty. Teaching
assignment may include day, evening, on-line, hybrid, weekend, and/or off campus
classes.

instruction; the appropriate use of technology in providing library services;
effective outreach and marketing of library services to a diverse community
college population
General
Responsibilities:
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following:
teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping
students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing
student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in
his/her regular teaching field; maintaining standards of professional conduct
and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with
articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college
committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and
student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned
by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time
faculty as outlined in the college faculty handbook.
Special Requirements:
1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution,
completed by August 21, 2014, in library science or library and information
science; OR, the equivalent.* OR, hold a California Community College
Instructor's Credential in the discipline area.
2. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse
academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual
orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including
those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in
learning styles.

Conditions:
All Positions: Offers of employment are contingent upon the

Entering annual salary within a given range varies,
