JOB PURPOSE:
The Public Services Specialist performs a variety of complex duties within the public services unit of the Hoover Institution Library & Archives, reporting to the Public Services Archivist. The Part-time Circulation Specialist will work at the Circulation & Privileges desk at Stanford’s Cecil H. Green Library providing excellent customer service by charging and discharging library and course reserve materials, answering questions, providing technical and computer assistance, issuing access and borrowing cards to affiliated scholars and fee borrowers, and taking payment for library fines and fees. The Circulation Specialist must successfully interpret and communicate SL policies and procedures, develop a rich and varied knowledge of SL resources and University services, and skillfully manage referrals. DESCRIPTION
The Library of the University of California, Davis, seeks a creative, forward-looking, collaborative, and service-oriented Electronic Resources Librarian. The position reports to the Head of Content Support Services Department and has a leading role in the workflows that establish and maintain discovery of and access to the library’s electronic resources licensed locally and consortially through the California Digital Library (CDL). The position has a supporting role in ensuring the integrated discovery and access across internal and external resources, including content from adjacent systems such as the library course reserves system and digital asset management system. DESCRIPTION
The Library of the University of California, Davis, seeks a creative, forward-looking, collaborative, and service-oriented Electronic Resources Librarian. The position reports to the Head of Content Support Services Department and has a leading role in the workflows that establish and maintain discovery of and access to the library’s electronic resources licensed locally and consortially through the California Digital Library (CDL). The position has a supporting role in ensuring the integrated discovery and access across internal and external resources, including content from adjacent systems such as the library course reserves system and digital asset management system. Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to library services and teaching responsibilities, other duties include maintaining regular office hours, developing curriculum, program review and planning, developing and assessing student learning outcomes, and participating in department activities and college governance.
Duties specific to Position One include:
• Coordinating library operations at the College’s North Center, including directing work of library staff; participating in reference service and selection of library resources; and providing course-related library instruction.
• Creating and maintaining web pages or other instructional documents relevant to assignment.
• Developing library displays and programs in collaboration with Public Services Librarian, Librarians at the College’s other centers, and Outreach Librarian.
• Working with Library Manager to arrange scheduling of Library staff.
• Performing special assignments as assigned by the Department Chair.
• Working with other Center departments to promote growth of the campus.
Duties specific to Position Two include:
• Collection development and management of the library’s subscription and electronic resource collections, including print serials, e-journals, streaming media, and online databases.
• Selecting resources, negotiating orders and managing designated budgets.
• Working with Systems Librarian to configure, test, customize, and troubleshoot e-resources with link resolver, discovery layer, and proxy server.
• Reviewing license agreements and accessibility for new orders and to ensure user access.
• Developing and improving workflows for subscription management, including renewals, registration and activation, and troubleshooting access problems.
• Working with other librarians to ensure content is accurately integrated and accessible through the Library Service Platform (LSP).
• Maintaining online journal A to Z list.
• Collecting and analyzing usage statistics.
• Participating in campus closed-streaming server team.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, 10 months per year, tenure-track position. Library and/or teaching assignments will include day, evening, and/or weekend classes at the San Marcos campus and/or off-campus locations as part of contract responsibilities, as well as distance education classes. Full-time faculty are expected to participate fully in departmental activities and college governance and hold regular office hours.

a. Position One: Essay on the following topic (maximum length: 1 page, 12pt font): Describe your service philosophy for meeting the library and information needs of students and academic programs at a new campus of a community college serving a diverse population.
b. Position Two: Essay on the following topic (maximum length: 1 page, 12pt font): Describe an effective strategy for selecting and promoting electronic (online) library resources for community college students; provide at least 1 example of how you have, or would, accomplish this goal.
2. This position is expected to start in the Fall 2018 semester (August 16, 2018).
3. Candidates selected for interviews will be required to interview in person at the College. Interviews will require a live teaching demonstration.
