Primary Purpose
Responsible for providing prompt and courteous circulation services and oversight of the University Library during assigned evening and weekend hours to ensure safety, security and efficient operations.

Essential Functions
1. Performs front-line circulation duties including checking materials in/out, interpreting and enforcing policies, resolving or referring user account issues, assessing and responding to user needs in a timely manner, to include all manner of face-to-face, phone, and email requests and inquiries.
2. Provides users with information and reference assistance, directing them to online research guides, referring them to reference librarians or other campus personnel as appropriate.
3. Assists users with computing needs including troubleshooting computers, print stations, scanners, and other applicable equipment.
4. Provides support for the library computers and systems.
5. Managing the maintenance of periodical stacks, including the collection of periodical usage statistics, the shelving and shifting of periodicals collection.
6. Ensures the security of Library users by enforcing and monitoring security procedures and building access policies during evening hours.
7. Serves as liaison to Campus Police and is first line of contact in case of emergencies during evening hours.
8. Communicates all issues and problems, (security, facilities, equipment, etc.) to the Facilities Manager, and works with Library personnel to resolve issues in a timely manner.
9. Ensures working order and availability/security of Library facilities, equipment, and other resources.
10. Processes course reserve requests and supports resource-sharing activities as necessary.
11. Contributes positively to the University Library’s service culture by effective communication of policies, procedures, programs, and issues to all user groups, internal and external.
12. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications
• One (1) year experience in a library demonstrating knowledge and understanding of library circulation and access operations.
• Strong verbal communication skills to communicate effectively orally, by telephone, by email, in person and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Knowledge and Expertise
• Working knowledge and understanding of library circulation and access services operations and policies.
• Working knowledge of library public services operations and programming, especially the role of access services in public services delivery. 
• Strong understanding of Information technology skills in relevant areas such as databases, library systems, email (Outlook), word processing, and MS Office suite of applications.
• Strong understanding of the use and trouble shooting of copiers, printers, computers, a/v equipment, and microform machines.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
• Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
