JOB SUMMARY
This position performs difficult specialized duties of a paraprofessional nature in 2 core areas of the Law Library’s operation. These 2 areas include: (1) Independent responsibility for all administrative and procedural tasks associated with the preparation and exporting of payment files to KFS using Alma, the library’s integration library system, and BigSys, and (2) Establishes working procedures for managing the Library’s serials subscriptions, both print and online, which account for 80% of the Library’s current titles, and $800,000 in annual expenditures. Both areas of responsibility require paraprofessional knowledge of library principles and procedures, computer and programming skills, and the ability to work independently in carrying out these duties. The employee uses established and innovative approaches and techniques to solve difficult problems using the newly transitioned ILS, Alma. The position works under general direction in carrying out these tasks, and oftentimes works directly with counterparts at Shields library, and campus accounting. The position requires a general understanding of bibliographic records and Marc tags. Employee is responsible for ordering NRLF shipments by coordinating with Shields librarians. The position hires, directs and supervises 4-5 library student assistants, assigning and reviewing work, setting schedules and training. The position is the lead for a full-time LAII, scheduling work, training, and reviewing work performed. The position also supervises the binding of library materials.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires ability to sit and work at computer terminal for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift and move books and sets of volumes to and from shelves and book trucks.
Must be able to unpack book shipments and place on book trucks.
Physical ability to push heavy book trucks
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work occasional alternate schedule when backup coverage is needed at the Staff Circulation desk. Alternate/flexible schedules may be approved as feasible.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Minimum of three years’ library experience, including knowledge of library functions and procedures, and using an integrated library system such as Alma.
- Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software, particularly MS Excel.
- Ability to interpret and maintain serial records
- Ability to process invoices and interpret library financial data.
- Ability to handle several tasks or assignments at once, establish priorities, and meet specified deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision, apply problem solving skills, and recognize and resolve technical issues
- Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding library patron service and maintain professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills to interact successfully with various constituents of the School of Law.
Preferred:
- Experience interpreting library bibliographic data, proficiency in drafting reports, performing analysis, and resolving problems using data analytics software, such as Oracle Analytics
- Experience processing financial records and invoices
- Supervisory experience
- Familiarity with formats and terminology of legal materials sufficient to create and interpret records
