Overview:
The Simi Valley Public Library is looking for a dynamic,
self-starter interested in working as part of a team to serve the needs of a
diverse community in Ventura County. The strongest applicant for this position
will have:
- experience with collection development, programming and customer service in a busy, public library environment
- an understanding of the unique needs of adult populations and an interest in providing programming that is responsive to community demand
- experience and comfort with social media, web design
- an interest in working as part of a team of outstanding colleagues
- an interest in and commitment to continuous professional development
- Responsibilities:
- The successful applicant will work with the Library Director:
- to serve as the librarian in charge in the absence of the Library Director
- to organize, and direct the operations of the Adult Services division and related library outreach efforts
- to supervise and evaluate the work of staff
- to monitor and implement budgets (in the areas of programming and collection development)
- to coordinate with the Library Director other managerial staff on developing and implementing policies and procedures
- to provide, advise and continually improve reference and reader’s advisory services
- develop refine and grow the existing collection and programming
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with all aspects of public library operations, either as an intern or employee, including, but not limited to:
- must possess a Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school
- providing customer service in a diverse community
- collection development
- programming
- community development and outreach
- strong communication skills both verbal and written
- previous supervisory experience preferred
