ABOUT THE JOB
The Access Services Unit is the primary customer service unit of the Library. Access Services operations include the following services: information delivery customer service, course resources, collection maintenance and stacks operations, and loaner laptops.

The Night/Weekend Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for the night/weekend operation of all Library services during assigned shifts. Manages the opening and/or closing of the Library on weekends. Oversees the operation and workflow of the Library service desks. Determines and coordinates night/weekend work assignments of student employees. Orients and counsels student employees on departmental policies, procedures and work assignments. Trains and coordinates the work assignments of student employees. During the nights and weekends, determines work priorities including but not limited to desk staffing, circulation operations such as checkout and checking of library materials, customer support and problem resolution, reshelving and shelf reading. Records and complies unit statistics. Responds to security alarms and other security related incidents. Responsible for the knowledge of all aspects of unit and Library opening and closing procedures. Provides basic support and troubleshooting for Library computers and printers. Instructs patrons in usage of Library catalog, MELVYL and MELVYL Request. Provides basic assistance in the use of electronic resources, such as e-books and e-journals, referring complex subject research to the appropriate UCM Library reference staff.

The Library student staffing program employs approximately 40-50 students (15-20 FTE). Coordination of this program includes hiring, scheduling, timekeeping, payroll and recordkeeping. The Night/Weekend Services Coordinator also supports the administrative unit and Library exhibits program.

Qualifications 

Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Recent library public service experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of library public services
• Demonstrated knowledge of standard office practices
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and complete assignments independently and as a member of a team
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based computer programs, specifically the MS Word and Excel
• Ability to search the Internet and familiarity with e-mail programs
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including use of proper grammar, spelling and standard business formats
• Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to interact effectively with the public in a library setting
• Available to work night and weekend shifts

Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong dedication to quality customer service; public service experience in a library setting
• Ability to observe and report facility problems, security incidents annd/or circulation problems
• Knowledge of CDL, MELVYL and OCLC’s Worldshare Management System
• Knowledge of library and campus policies, procedures, organization and structure
• General knowledge of library rules of safety and security
• General knowledge of inter library loan principles
• Knowledge of operating systems, computer maintenance, and technical assistance is highly preferred
