CALHEERS PROJECT

Under the direction of the Manager, Project Management Office (DPM II), the Project Asset Librarian plans organizes, coordinates and manages a variety of complex activities and services. The Project Asset Librarian is responsible for the management of all documents and assets for the CalHEERS Project.

JOB DUTIES:

Develop, maintain and coordinate the electronic and physical project libraries. Assist the project with project management tasks relating to the acquisition and tracking of project artifacts. Assist the Project team in developing and maintaining plans and processes that comply with project standards. Ensure project plans and documented project processes are approved and placed in the Project Library/document repository.

Maintain project libraries, both electronic and physical. Organize, consolidate, and categorize sub-libraries, documents, and folders in the project libraries. Perform activities necessary to manage the project libraries. Manage version control, history modification, and review and approval activities of library documents. Participate in the control of access levels to folders by users and groups in the document repository. Lead workgroups to identify needs for electronic and hardcopy storage of documentation and artifacts, cataloging, and file structure. Provide recommendations and alternative solutions to management. As directed, participate in the response to information requests from federal and state government staff, the vendor community, and external project stakeholders in accordance with state and project policies.

Develop and manage the Asset Management Process, procedures and activities in conjunction with the Systems Integrator and State technical staff. Maintain, audit and report on the changes to assets, its status and disposition. Monitor and review the assignment of assets to staff during the on-boarding and off-boarding process.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of and ability to apply project management principles, methods, techniques, and tools for the effective management of IT projects from initiation through implementation.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Taft College is seeking an innovative, energetic and service-oriented Research and Instruction Librarian dedicated to teaching and learning. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and deliver information competency courses face-to-face, offline, and/or online.
• Promote library in-house and outreach services to on-campus and distant library users.

The UCLA Library seeks an engaged,energetic,and forward-looking librarian to provide leadership in enhancing and managing its preservation program.  This is an exciting opportunity to lead and oversee a comprehensive preservation program for a top-ranked ARL Library with a world-class collection supporting teaching and research in a wide variety of disciplines. The incumbent will work closely with the a variety of UCLA library departments including, but not limited to,  Southern Regional Library Facility, Librarys Digital Library Program, and collection managers and curators.  A Conservation Center, with a full time conservator and conservation assistant was established in 2004 with a start-up grant and endowment from the Mellon Foundation. The Conservation Center is an integral component of the Preservation Department and the conservator will report directly to the Head of the Preservation Department.
Position Duties
Reporting directly to the Associate University Librarian for Collection Management and Scholarly Communication,the incumbent is responsible for the leadership,management,and supervision of the Preservation Department. Department heads are members of the Management Council and as such contribute to policy and planning directions for the Library.  Specific duties include:
  • Responsible for developing and establishing a preservation program for the UCLA Librarys analog general and special collections.
  • Working with library staff, direct a strategic planning process for the preservation program that includes development and implementation of specific objectives and goals.
  • Work collaboratively with staff of individual libraries to set priorities and determine appropriate preservation strategies and workflows for client units.
  • Oversee bindery and physical preparation including assessment of current workflows and establishment of standards for processing of labeling,marking,and pamphlet binding.
  • Supervise the Head of the Conservation Center and center operations.
  • Manage budgets for preservation projects and program, equipment,and supplies.
  • Initiate plan to evaluate conditions of the collections and establish short and long-term goals, objectives, programs, and policies.

Required Qualifications

The UCLA Law Library serves the Law School faculty and students as their basic library and study resource for teaching and research. There are approximately 1,200 law students, approximately 100 full and part-time faculty, and more than 120 Law School staff. The school has a varied and demanding curriculum, highly productive faculty, an extensive clinical and externship program and a co-curricular program that includes an active Moot Court program and 13 law reviews. The Law Library also supplies the legal literature resources for other UCLA faculty, students, and staff with a need for such materials. Heavy use of the Law Library is made by members of the community, including lay people and members of the bench and bar.

The Law Library is one of the larger professional school libraries on campus. It currently has a staff of 17 librarians (including this position) and 15 staff personnel, as well as many part-time student employees. It contains over 580,000 bound volumes and documents and over 94,000 microforms. The administration of the Law Library is headed by the Director of the Law Library, who reports to the Dean of the School of Law. The day-to-day functions of the Library have been divided into four sections: Access and Information Services (AIS), Bibliographic Services and Collection Management, Scholarship Support and RA Program, and Reference and Research Services. The AIS department interacts extensively and collaboratively with the other three departments in providing services to the Law School community. The Law Library has a beautiful facility that opened in the Fall of 1998.

Description of Position & Duties

Under the general direction of the Director, Access & Information Services (AIS), the Access Services Librarian participates in the delivery of services to the Law Library's users.  This includes working from the Circulation Desk (and occasionally the Reference Desk) to provide basic research and reference services to School of Law Faculty and students and other library visitors, and creating training materials for the entire department. The Librarian coordinates the development, maintenance and updating of the Law Library Intranet, as well as making significant contributions to its content. The Librarian serves as Assistant Department Head and is responsible for the daily management of the Circulation Desk, hard copy and electronic reserve services, and stacks maintenance. The Access Services Librarian also indirectly supervises approximately 15 part-time student assistants assigned to circulation, shelving, and document delivery services.  The Librarian administers the Librarys Limited Access Policy, including coordinating CSO coverage of the librarys access control desk and the After Hours Reading Room. The Librarian also heads the librarys emergency preparedness efforts.

These responsibilities require in-depth knowledge of library circulation policies and procedures and a basic knowledge of complex legal sources, covering a variety of jurisdictions (U.S., California, other states, as well as foreign and international materials) in a variety of formats, including online databases, as well as the ability to contribute to making the Library hospitable and responsive to the needs of the law school community. The Access Services Librarian supervises the Circulation & Stacks Coordinator, the Circulation & Reserves Coordinator, the Evening Circulation Coordinator and, indirectly, the Evening Circulation Supervisor, as well as assists the AIS director with the overseeing of all daily operations of the AIS department. Responsibilities also include assisting the AIS director in the development and enforcement of all department policies and procedures with the goal of furthering the service mission of the library.

Requires the ability to deal courteously with library patrons including students, teachers, parents and members of the public. Must be able to perform routine clerical and record keeping duties.
Physical Abilities: Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize letters and numbers; hand-arm-eye coordination to use a personal computer keyboard; ambulatory ability to walk, move carts, and reach to selves for placement of lightweight objects (less than 10 pounds); hearing and speech ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone.
Education and Experience: High School diploma plus post high school library science curriculum or equivalent required. Minimum of three years of experience in a library or instructional setting required.
Licenses and Certificates: TB Test clearance, Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance, and valid Drivers license.
