The Learning Commons Program Coordinator has primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Learning Commons (LC) facility, as well as a strong role in the other services provided by the Learning Commons department. The Program Coordinator reports to the Learning Commons Manager. The LC is:

• a library facility that provides a wide variety of electronic, multimedia, and print-based learning resources and responds to informational requests from its audiences;
• a reception area for special audiences visiting the museum;
• a service program that preserves the Exploratorium’s historical intellectual capital, including inventorying current collections; creating museum-wide, project-based, and public collections; restoring and digitizing non-digital audio and videotapes and core print documents; creating access to the digital content; creating, applying and training staff in metadata schemas; and supporting staff in managing and accessing these collections; and
• a laboratory for the exploration of new educational technologies with formal and informal educators
