POSITION OVERVIEW
Taft College is seeking an innovative, energetic and service-oriented Research and Instruction Librarian dedicated to teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will offer reference services and course instruction that support and encourage optimal use of information technology in learning and research activities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and deliver information competency courses face-to-face, offline, and/or online.
• Promote library in-house and outreach services to on-campus and distant library users.
• Develop instructional modules in a variety of formats, including Web content tutorials, and guides to digital and other library resources.
• Participate in developing the library’s book, multimedia and electronic collections by selecting materials for acquisition in all formats, participating in collection reviews and weeding projects, and collaborating with appropriate academic departments.
• Attend departmental meetings, faculty and committee meetings and staff development workshops.
• Maintain attendance and participation in professional organizations and online discussion groups and other activities.
• Coordinate community engagement activities.
• Coordinate the preparation and administration of annual budgets for assigned programs and services; reviewing and recommending expenditures according to established District policies and procedures.
• Coordinate data collection protocols, ensuring the consistent, relevant, timely, and accurate collection and reporting program data.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
ALA – accredited Master’s degree in library science, library and information science or the equivalent. Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. NOTE: Applicants who claim equivalent qualifications shall provide conclusive evidence that they possess qualifications that are at least equivalent to those required by the minimum qualifications of the area for which they are applying. It is the responsibility of the applicant to supply all evidence and documentation for the claim of equivalency at the time of the application.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in the design and delivery of information competency instruction and in the development of instructional modules, tutorials and guides to library resources and services. Experience in working with students, faculty and staff from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

There is one (1) form that you will need to download from the website; it is titled Equivalency Determination – the information requested is required of all candidates not holding the stated minimum qualifications who are seeking consideration on the basis of equivalency. FOREIGN TRANSCRIPTS
Candidates with foreign degrees must provide official certification of equivalency to U.S. degrees by a recognized
U.S. credential evaluation service.
ANTICIPATED STARTING COMPENSATION
Based upon the 2012-13, 12 month academic salary schedule, the salary range is $62,981.00 to $121,817.00. An annual doctoral stipend of $3,431.68 is included in addition to the salary when appropriate.
