Job Description:

The Palos Verdes Library District is currently recruiting for On-Call Librarians. We are looking for librarians who thrive on taking care of things the right way the first time. A task comes in, you figure out how to get it done without having to ask a lot of questions. When you say 'I'll take care of it' we know it'll be done. You get excited when you know you've made someone else's day easier. Provides information, reference, reader's advisory, and may provide programs for the public. On-Call Librarians will be assigned to Adult, Teen, Children’s Services or special projects as needed. Storytime experience highly desirable. There is no guarantee of weekly hours; this will be an on call position only.

Hours will be Monday through Saturday and occasional Sundays. Candidates must be available to work Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Provides reference and readers advisory services to customers of all ages.

Advises and assists library customers; demonstrates the use of library resources.

Performs bibliographic searches using both print and non-print sources.

Responds to suggestions, requests, or concerns from library users or community members.

May participate in meetings, committees, or projects intended to enhance services or promote consistent policies and procedures across the District.

Experience and Skills:

A Master's degree or within 6 months of graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in library science to be capable of carrying out the full range of duties of a professional librarian. Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
