THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Assists the Library Assistant III with Library Page supervision
• Prepares clerical worksite for opening and closing
• Process magazines daily
• Maintains Library brochure materials to assure currency, Library policy relevance and neatness
• Checks in all formats of returned materials using the Library’s automated system
• Retrieves daily “holds” materials from the shelves, changes their status code and processes for the “holds” shelf
• Pulls unclaimed “holds” and processes them for return to shelves or to transit crates
• Assists in mending all formats of materials, including the routine cleaning of DVD and CD discs
• Creates flyers, bookmarks, posters and other promotional materials
• Processes new materials in all formats, including copying and pasting DVD and CD graphics for covers
• Assists with general maintenance of office equipment such as, replacing toner cartridges, paper and cleaning glass surfaces
• Assists customer with use of library equipment such as, copy machines, self- check, computers, PC scheduling station and printers
• Checks-out all formats of materials to library patrons using the Library’s automated system
• Calculates and collects fines and fees from library patrons
• Pulls and processes special collections such as a reserve collection for teachers and students
• Registers new library users and advises them of library policies and procedures
• Provides limited reference and reader’s advisory to the public, responds to inquiries and refers patrons (in person and/or on the phone) to appropriate library personnel for requested services/information
• Assists library patrons in the use of the library facility and with other directional information
• Prepares cash bank for the day; balances the cash drawer and bank deposits and completes required financial reports
• Settles credit card transactions and secures the daily cash bank in a safe at the end of the day
• Trains and works closely with Library volunteers
• Assists Library staff in planning and preparing for library programs and events through the preparation of stories, crafts, arranging displays, bulletin boards and posters and setting-up and cleaning-up before and after events
• Conducts basic story time, craft, or hired performer programs
