Salary: $68,515.00 - $81,702.00 Annually

The Position: The Supervisor level recognizes positions that perform full, first-line supervisory and management responsibilities including planning, assigning and evaluating the work of subordinates, are responsible for a program area within the Library and provide technical assistance to the Deputy City Librarian. The Supervising Librarian position is a member of the City's management team comprised of department heads, deputy directors and division managers.

The Qualifications: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience performing professional librarian duties.

Five years of progressively responsible library experience, which includes three years in a supervisory capacity is highly desirable.

Training: Possession of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited college or university is required.

Licenses and Certificates: Possession of or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license, which must be maintained as a condition of employment.
