These aren't in California but this sounds so cool that I wanted to share them.
Yellowstone Research Library internships (2 positions). *** We’ve just been notified that the federal government is revising its policy and procedures for hiring students. While we are still searching for interns for the summer, the announcement and application procedures previously posted have been suspended and new announcements will be issued
shortly on USAJobs (www.usajobs.gov). Applications submitted directly to
the park can no longer be considered; all applications must be through USAJobs.
The hiring authority under which we have hired interns in the past is the Student Temporary Employee Program (STEP). Effective April 1, 2012, all new STEP and SCEP appointments will require open competition and veterans preference will apply to all selections.
The good news is that the new internship positions are not limited to students, so recent graduates or those graduating in the spring are now eligible for consideration. Since the Final Rule for the new Pathways Program has not yet been issued, we are posting our internship positions as standard seasonal (temporary) positions. Those who have already submitted applications will be notified individually and will need to reapply via the USAJobs website. Those still considering an application are also encouraged to apply.
We are hurrying as quickly as we can to get the new positions posted and advertised. As soon as they appear on USAJobs, we will post an announcement to this listserv. Because of the delay caused by this change, the positions will have a very short (1 week) deadline to apply.
Interested candidates are encouraged to visit USAJobs ahead of time to become familiar with the system, open an account, and begin to upload or create a resume and other supplemental documents (you can do this before applying to any specific job openings). Tips for ensuring success using the USAJobs program can be found at https://help.usajobs.gov/index.php/Main_Page.
