Salary
Salary Range: $2,740 - $4,840 per month
Anticipated Hiring Salary: $2,740 per month
Note: This is a part-time (equivalent to 25 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
The primary purpose of this position is to order and receive library materials using a variety of ordering processes.
POSITION SUMMARY
The major duties of the job
Search, order and receive library materials, including, but not limited to print, electronic, CDs, DVDs, streaming media and specialized learning aids for children
Train student assistants in technical aspects of searching, ordering, receiving and handling library materials
Revise orders entered by student assistant into the Integrated Library System (ILS)
Obtain Vendor Data Record forms from vendors and enter information into the ILS
Use ILS to obtain information on active orders
Verify accuracy of materials received against orders placed
The secondary duties of the job include:
Contact faculty regarding materials requests and contact donors of gifts-in-kind to obtain donor and gift information
Claim materials with vendors
Correspond with overseas and multimedia vendors to obtain ordering information, follow up on orders placed
Prepare reports for Purchasing needs
Sort and disburse daily mail for the unit
Monitor acquisition expenditures and process vendor invoices for payment
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
General knowledge of policies and procedures related to the acquisition of library materials
General understanding of a library's organization structure of key functional operations
Proficiency in English grammar, punctuation and spelling and the ability to clearly communicate verbally and via email
Ability to use an integrated library system to perform assigned duties
Ability to work within a diverse environment and be service-oriented in working with patrons and other library staff, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the library
A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
Education and Experience
High school education or equivalent certification
Minimum of two years of related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with an integrated library system (ILS), preferably Alma
Familiarity with OCLC
Knowledge of computer applications such as Word and Excel
At least two years of college
