San Francisco - Foundation Center - Social Sector Librarian

Schedule:  Tuesday through Thursday, from 9:30 am to 1 pm (required); additional hours as needed (16 hours max. per week)

Location:  Foundation Center West, 312 Sutter Street, Suite 606, San Francisco, CA

Position Summary:  Provides support for the library services and educational programs offered at Foundation Center West’s library/learning center.

Responsibilities:

Library/Learning Center:
  • Staffs reference desk on a regular basis and provides reference assistance to customers in-person, via e-mail, and by telephone
  • Provides library visitors with guidance on Foundation Center products and services
  • Provides instruction on the use of Foundation Directory Online and other fundraising databases, including once-a-month orientation classes
  • Maintains the physical library space: organizes supply and display of Center literature and resources, re-shelves/files library and office materials
Online Reference:
  • Staffs the Ask Us virtual (chat and e-mail) reference service through regularly scheduled shifts
  • Helps maintain the Knowledge Base Articles on GrantSpace.org
  • Participates in other special GrantSpace.org projects as needed
Training:
  • Assembles materials and photocopies handouts for classes and outreach programs
  • Performs data entry for class registrations
  • Maintains the print and online calendar of events
  • Prepares catering orders for special events
Administrative:
  • Processes bills for payment and assists the City Lead with monthly financial reports
  • Orders and maintains office supplies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in library information science or nonprofit management
  • 2+ years of experience in library services, fundraising/grant writing, and/or customer service
  • Must be knowledgeable about computer networks and applications, and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and database searches
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Excellent written/oral communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
