Departmental Overview
Bancroft Public Services handles the needs of patrons, visiting researchers and professors of the greater University community by providing access to thousands of rare and special collections materials. As a non-circulating library, BPS staff handles all access and distribution of materials to scholars, in-house technical service staff, and additionally for curators, exhibitions, courses and makes arrangements for off-site traffic of materials to digitalization projects and processing archivists.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting Bancroft Public Services operations.
  • Managing Aeon/online duplication orders
  • Fulfilling patron photocopy requests
  • Paging materials from stacks and secured vault area
  • Serving at Circulation and Registration desks.
  • Updating Bancroft Library website and associated modules
  • Assisting patrons in using microfilm duplication equipment
Required Qualifications
  • Related library or special collections experience
  • Demonstrated experience with bibliographic searching and library catalogs
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Attention to detail in high pressure situations
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and work for prolonged periods in 60-62 degree temperatures
  • Ability to communicate detailed instructions/resolutions to others clearly with confidence verbally and in prepared documents/email
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling rare/archival material
  • Knowledge of Xerox machines and microfilm scanning equipment
  • Experience with content management software (ie. Drupal)
