Job Summary:

Under an assigned supervisor, Grossmont College tenured and tenure track librarians participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of library programs and services that will facilitate learning, support the college curriculum, and contribute to the mission of the college and the district. Librarians are expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's in library science, library and information science; OR
A current California Community College Credential that permits full-time service as a Librarian; OR
The equivalent. If you are applying base on "the equivalent", you will need to complete an Equivalency Determination Form.  This form MUST be submitted as part of the application procedures.

Necessary Qualifications:

* Experience in providing instruction via workshops or courses in Information Literacy in a variety of modalities

* Create instructional materials for diverse learners in a variety of modalities and the ability to employ instructional design principles in an online environment

* Experience in providing service at a library reference desk while employing online search strategies

* Participate effectively in a collaborative environment with a commitment to service excellence

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from a broad spectrum of cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, diverse ability level and language backgrounds'

Preferred Qualifications: 

* Experience in collection development and academic liaison activities

* Experience in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle

* Participate in the development of library policies and procedures

* Experience developing, marketing, and driving successful library programs

* Experience with shared governance and participation in staff, faculty, committee, and professional meetings

* Commitment to maintaining current knowledge of instructional methods and emerging technologies and apply those technologies to library instruction.

* Willingness to experiment using multimedia and digital instructional materials to advance how users interact with the library

* Experience developing web pages and LibGuides

Working Conditions: 

This position is responsible for coordination of library instruction services, which include conducting instruction through a variety of modalities such as research workshops in person and online, Library and Information Resources (LIR) courses, and development and maintenance of instructional materials using traditional and emerging technologies. Librarians also serve as liaisons to academic departments, with corresponding collection development. Librarians are expected to perform additional public services, such as outreach activities and reference as assigned. Participation as a key member of the library team is required in developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the library's programs and services. Committee work outside the library is expected.

This position will work Monday through Friday but may be assigned to work weekends. Hours may vary.
