SUMMARY
The Mill Valley Public Library is looking for an industrious self-starter to work part-time at the Adult Reference desk. We are seeking a high-energy service-oriented individual who is excited about working with the public. Applicants should be available to work weekend and evening hours and have the flexibility to work additional hours when needed.

There is also the possibility to gain diverse, cross-departmental experience in a public library. The ideal candidate will be a quick-study interested in gaining a broad base of skills and experiences. ONGOING RECRUITMENT:

PART-TIME PAGING STAFF
Mill Valley Public Library is always accepting applications for industrious and detail-oriented individuals with a flexible schedule to perform part-time paging services. Applications are held on file for 12 months and interviews are conducted thrice yearly in February, June and October.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Typical duties may include but are not limited to general paging functions, e.g., shelving books, emptying book drops, keeping the stacks organized and assisting in the routine functions of preparing the library for daily opening and closing. Hourly wage is $12.44. 

ESTIMATED NUMBER OF HOURS:
3 – 6 hours per week initially. Pages available to work evenings, weekends and cover shifts on short notice will be able to increase their hours. Typically, successful pages are able to pick up additional regular shifts within the first six months. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
·         Ability to work cooperatively with library staff
·         Excellent attention to detail
·         A very flexible schedule
·         Ability to learn new procedures and follow written and oral instructions
·         Ability to accurately order items alphabetically and numerically
·         Available to work evenings and weekends
·         Excellent attention to detail
·         Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively with library staff
·         Ability to learn new procedures and follow written and oral instructions
·         Lift, push, pull and/or carry boxes of books weighing up to 50 pounds; mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend to place and remove books from high book shelves up to 80 inches above floor level or from low book shelves up to 2 inches above floor level

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL
·         Be working toward, or have a Master's in Library Science (MLS or MLIS).
·         Have knowledge of Innovative or other integrated library automation system
·         Have an interest in digital pursuits, e.g. graphic design, digital archiving, web site design, and familiarity with a variety of software and applications
