Definition
The City of Folsom is currently seeking Library
Shelvers and Library Pages on a temporary, part-time schedule. These
positions are limited in hours and not eligible for benefits.
The Library Shelver performs a variety of routine manual and clerical tasks, primarily sorting and shelving materials to maintain the order and appearance of the library.
The Library Page is a slightly higher classification performing a variety of routine manual and clerical tasks in support of Library operations and activities, primarily checking in, sorting,and shelving materials to maintain the work flow and order of the library.

Examples of Essential Duties
Library Shelver:
Sort/shelve library materials accurately according to library classification systems (alphabetic and alphanumeric); perform shelf reading and reorganize shelves for correct location of materials and attractive appearance of shelves; perform routine clerical and support tasks; maintain appearance of work and public area; perform light housekeeping including dusting and cleaning; locate and retrieve materials for patron requests; check in library materials using a computerized library system; empty book drops and take returned items to the proper place for checking in; assist with library programs and displays; perform other duties as assigned.
Library Page:
Empty book drops and check in library materials using a computerized library system; process library materials for circulation; repair damaged materials; locate and retrieve materials for patron requests; assist with library programs and displays; assist with training Library Shelvers and volunteers; sort/shelve library materials accurately according to library classifications systems (alphabetical and alphanumeric); perform routine clerical and support tasks; performs other duties as assigned.

Alphabetical and numerical order; communicate well orally and in writing; learn the Dewey Decimal System; organize, prioritize and pace duties and tasks; follow oral and written directions; understand and perform library procedures; establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public; and use computers, software packages and related office equipment.
Library Shelver:

Experience: One (1) year or equivalent of Library
Shelver experience.
