PART-TIME SALARY RANGE
Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $46.75 - $59.70 per hour depending on education and experience.

Job Description:
Hourly librarians will be included in a pool for regularly assigned shifts in general reference services. We are especially looking for availability from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00 am to 4:30 pm on Friday. Typical duties for librarians would include: Providing information to students and faculty on resources available in the library or through other sources and assisting in making these resources available; assisting in the development and maintenance of a collection of reference materials; providing instruction in the proper use of the library and its resources on a group or individual basis; publicizing library resources and promoting the use of the library; and assisting with the formulation and maintenance of library reports and statistics. Provide general support to the reference services desk, support the philosophy and mission of the Library and Learning Resources Division, the Schauerman library and reference services area, and support and implement when needed policies and procedures of both Library and Learning Resources, as well as the reference services area. Other Tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in library science; library and information science; OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement, must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject (per California Education Code 87355 issued prior to July 1, 1990); AND 
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Library experience with community college students in reference services.
Technology skills and experience in utilizing online databases.
Library Instruction within an academic learning environment.
Collection development.
Worked with diverse groups and populations.
Knowledge of SLO's and SAO's.
