DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general direction of the Selection, EEO and Support Services Branch Manager (Staff Services Manager II), the Supervising Librarian I serves as a working supervisor in the Energy Commission Library. The incumbent is responsible for performing professional librarian functions and managing the professional library programs, that include administration and library automation, evaluation of materials, information, research, studies and developments in the profession, assessment, conducts research, collection development, reference, online services, interlibrary loan, cataloging, circulation, serials control, and material preservation.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant should have

Ability to management all aspects of library operations and provide direction for library

Ability to supervise and train library staff

Ability to coordinate activities, organize priorities and delegate effectively

Knowledge and experience with SydneyPlus or other library automated systems

Knowledge of collection development and maintenance

Experience with online literature searching using Proquest/DIALOG and Lexis/Nexis

Ability to give library database demonstrations, library orientations and presentations

Ability to provide good customer services including a full range of reference services

Knowledge of interlibrary loan operations

Knowledge of cataloging principles and procedures, OCLC and RDA

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Facility with Microsoft Office Programs and the Internet

Knowledge of energy resources and/or science or technology experience is a plus

Knowledge of State purchasing, inventory and accounting procedures is advantageous
