San Francisco - Library Technician, Access Services - Alliant University

The Library Technician for Access Services, under the general direction of the Director of the Library, is responsible for circulation activities, Interlibrary loan (ILL), materials delivery, and stacks maintenance.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee circulation desk activities, including processing all notices and billing for unreturned materials on the Innovative Interfaces Millennium system, direct the paging of inter-campus materials, resolve patron circulation problems, and assist patrons with special needs and requests.
Manage the LINK+ activity, including lending and borrowing functions and courier service; and, attend LINK+ users' meetings as requested.  Use Innovative Millennium, Article Reach, OCLC, and Docline systems to receive and process ILL requests from Alliant students and other libraries in cooperation with other institutions; and, maintain complete and accurate files and statistics.
Oversee shelving of library materials, general shelf maintenance, including shelf reading, searches for lost items, space planning, shifting of the collection as needed, and weeding projects.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Education:  Bachelor's degree or Library Technician Certificate.
Experience:
Experience in library circulation services familiarity with library automation systems.
Knowledge of Innovative Interfaces Millennium or Sierra systems desirable.
Familiarity with library automation systems, preferably Innovative Interfaces systems, as well as interlibrary loan systems (OCLC, Docline)
Good supervisory skills and experience
Good oral communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with all segments of the campus community.
Certificates and Licenses:  Library Technician Certificate (optional w/Bachelor's Degree)
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Supervise student assistants working at the Circulation Desk, including hiring, training, scheduling, and daily supervision of students.
Evaluate student assistants' job performance each semester.
Oversee a variety of projects assigned to student assistants.
