Position Description

The Fresno County Library is offering exciting career opportunities for dynamic and innovative individuals interested in becoming an Information Technology Support Technician I. Responsibilities of this position include receiving, logging and monitoring calls regarding hardware, software, and network problems; assisting users in resolving problems after troubleshooting operational systems and consulting with department staff; and performing related work as required.

Note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group I - Light Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require only light physical effort and may include lifting of small, light objects and some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. Considerable walking or standing may be involved.

Eligible candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
  • Computer hardware and software;
  • Office automation systems and procedures;
  • Teleprocessing network systems.
Skills/Abilities to:
  • Install and troubleshoot PC software and peripherals;
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Display effective time management skills;
  • Work independently and as a team member;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Work in a multicultural, multilingual environment.
Minimum Qualifications
ExperienceOne (1) year of full-time, paid work experience performing a variety of clerical functions.
Substitution:  Thirty (30) semester units of completed coursework from an accredited college or university that is acceptable within the United States’ accredited college or university system in Information Technology, Computer Science or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience. If qualifying under this substitution your units must be listed on the supplemental questionnaire.
OR
Certification as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) may be substituted for the required experience.
OR
Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or CISCO Certified Internet work Expert (CCIE) may be substituted the required experience.
