professional archivist.
Part Time, Temporary Position
Report to the RHS Board of Directors
Immediate start date
Contract is $5,000. Our expectation is roughly a 10-hour
workweek for approximately 25 weeks.
Payment is monthly.
Job Description
Responsibility to preserve, organize and catalog
historically valuable or otherwise important documents and records. This individual
will assess the current needs of the archive materials in the museum, create a
plan for organizing and cataloging these materials, and implement the plan.
Duties:
- Analyze, collect, organize, and catalog important documents and materials that are slated for being preserved permanently in the museum’s collection.
- Catalog information in conjunction with the system the Roseville Library historical collection is utilizing for its online catalog, or for a similar on-line system.
- Monthly, or as needed, status report given to the RHS board of directors.
- Coordinate with curator regarding information to be cataloged.
- Work with intern/s to create a publicly accessible archives collection.
- If the opportunity exists, be prepared to create an online database for easy reference for the public.
Education, Experience
- Degree in history, library science, or archiving desired. Equivalent experience acceptable.
- Minimum two years of previous archival experience, preferably in a museum or archive collections.
